Day 11 @strangersendoff: This One's for You

El looks curiously at the small, plastic rectangle now in her hands. A cassette, she remembers. She knows it is music, having seen Lucas place a similar rectangle in his music maker next to Max's bedside every day for a year, but that one looked very different. A very pretty woman was on that cover.

This one had a taped-on label with splotchy pen ink titling and listing its contents. There is not a single name she recognizes, nor do the song titles make much sense to her. But while El has never heard of an Ozzy before, she is excited to find out.

But the title itself is what makes her smile. To Supergirl, From Eddie.

Her brown eyes look up at Eddie with a grin. "This is..for me?"

Eddie stares back, then darts his eyes away, like he doesn't know what to do with someone he barely knows looking at him so excitedly. So not full of suspicion. "Yeah, well, Dustin told me you don't really know what kinda music you like yet, figured you uh..could use some tips."

Henderson was right. El's smile really was something special. Damn these kids. He's almost as bad as Harrington.

"And I am Supergirl?" she asks in earnest. El knows that's what her friends call her, and Steve jerked his thumb towards herself and Will one time calling them 'the wonder twins', but she has known them for years. Eddie Munson is still a newer friend. Dustin adores him though, so he must be a good one.

Eddie cracks a grin, "Damn right you are. What, saved the world four times and you gotta ask?" The metalhead reaches over and taps the tape. "And every superhero needs badass music for their montages. This one's got all the good stuff to get you started."

She nods, believing him completely, then asks, "What is a montage?"

And Eddie explains. Not once does he make her feel stupid or weird for not knowing. In fact, Eddie is patient with her. Answers all her questions, asks if she has more, makes sure she's got either a Walkman or a tape player at home to actually play it (she does, Lucas would let her use his), and ruffles her hair--her shoulder-length hair--before stuffing his hands in his pockets and heading back in The Squawk.

She cannot wait to listen.

I have a hc that lance's sis rachel is deaf

She had hearing aids but after the galra invasion they died and she had no way of hearing, so she and the people around her communicated with both asl and spanish/Cuban sign, which helped in hiding, as well as shielding certain info from others. She got new hearing aids when she came back but she still uses sign to pass on certain info.

Also I can imagine lance losing his hearing temporarily on a mission and everyone's screaming at him to tell them if hes hurt and hes like: {guys,,,,guys,,,,,my ears are literally ringing bls stop}
