What would Mercedes’s relationship with Szura be like as well as Dedue’s relationship with Jean-Baptiste?
(Let's see how the two highest ranked parent/child duos do together!)
💚Molinaro Family (Mercidue Edition)🤎
Love the idea of Jean-Baptiste speaking the Duscur language fluently.
💐Dedue and Jean-Baptiste 😇
By the time Jean-Baptiste is born, the people of Duscur would have begun the slow revival of their homeland, and the school that his parents had opened would be his gateway into his father's side of the family.
Dedue is the quiet strength of the family. Though most of Jean-Baptiste's time as a child would be spent with his mother, attending services and baking delicious sweets, he would also look to spend time with his father as well, learning from his example and engaging in his hobbies. After all, the Duscur gods enjoy flowers in much the same way the goddess of Fodlan does - and so does Dedue.
Jean-Baptiste's smiley nature would often offset Dedue's more taciturn self, both teaching each other their respective importance. Dedue would pick up the smiles and laughter more often, and Jean-Baptiste would also the learn to temper his impulses when under duress.
Dedue has had a lot more practice in keeping his personal feelings to himself when he knows it will only cause trouble, something he'd teach to his boy. While Jean-Baptiste mainly does it in defense of others or himself, sometimes the better route is simply cultivating a measure of patience and letting it go. It's a hard lesson, one of the hardest learned and taught, but Jean-Baptiste seems to be getting it slowly but surely, aided by his morning meditations.
If Dedue is quiet strength, Mercedes is vocal vulnerability. Open honesty with feelings, speaking on what hurts and learning how to heal. She would be the biggest influence on Szura in that aspect.
Szura shares her father's introverted personality, keeping more to herself and prioritizing the needs of others above herself. Mercedes' empathy would likely help her to notice it early in her daughter's life. This would result in her providing easy opportunities during their times together to open up more. Questions about how she's feeling and what she thinks about things would be commonplace, though not to the point of prodding or being a busybody.
Rolling feelings into dough, braiding thoughts into hair, sewing prayer into clothing; the easiest way to get it out is to put it into the things she likes.
As a result, Szura would become more open about things with others, having more to share about herself rather than focusing solely on everyone else. Even just seeking out her brother, father, or mother just for a conversation about whatever's on her mind at the time. Big sisters need looking after, too!
