MerMay Resort Day 8- Mermadonna (Yo-Kai Watch)

Day 8 gives us Mermadonna, the evolution of Mermaidyn, who I drew last year!

Isn’t she absolutely gorgeous? Don’t worry, she gets a beachfront room!

I’m starting to think merfolk love their beachfront rooms.

Anyways, as with the upcoming weekend, I’m sure two certain Saiyans may have gotten the ocean’s blessing…

Mermadonna. Rambling below

Ok, for anyone unfamiliar with the story she is based on, basically she’s inspired by both the ningyo (what Mermaidyn is) and the Yao Bikuni story; a girl who unknowingly consumed the ningyo flesh and was cursed to live 800 years for the consumption of something so innocent (some versions of the story also say that tsunamis will also come as retribution). That’s why Mermadonna and Mermaidyn’s inspirits make people immortal, their soultimate is a tsunami, etc. getting off track where was I?

Yeah, so my headcanon is that this Mermadonna, she was previously a Mermaidyn who was inadvertently caught and killed for consumption, eaten unknowingly by the Yao Bikuni (I have a headcanon which Yo Kai that is too but that’s prob for later). Upon her rebirth, she left behind a Mermaid Pearl since according to the game that’s where such pearls come from, right? And to avoid ever being harmed again, she fused with the Mermaid Pearl spawned from her own death to become Mermadonna.

Now, with a human disguise of a fisherwoman, she boards large trawling ships to prevent other ningyos and fish yokai from going through what happened to her. To any of her fellow human fishers who discover the ningyo are real and purposely try to harvest its immortality, Mermadonna will send Whazzat to purge their memories, and, in dire cases, will send Shadow Venoct to get rid of the perpetrator.
