Hi I actually finished this design last year (November 8th) and am just now posting since it's mermay again heh..... I had watched so many deep sea videos on youtube to figure out how I wanted to make him. Thats where I learned that in darker parts of the ocean, you can be such a strong color of red and it makes you practically invisible to other sea creatures of that depth. I think it would be so funny for Y/N to be going deeper than ever, finds Eclipse, who thinks they can't see him, only for him to be the most visible thing within Y/N's scuba lights. Real hiding behind a pole, but you can still see my whole body vibe. (It's also what gets him super interested in Y/N)

This is a FACT by the Great Barrier Reef Foundation website, that male clownfishes are the primary caretakers for their young!

I did NOT know that until just now…

WHICH MEANS SUN IS PERFECT! I unknowingly picked the right fish for him to be as a mer!

TBH I was just trying to find a fish that would match with his color scheme! And of course…the jester motif—BUT COME ON! I got SO LUCKY!

It’s not even funny!

Also! Another fact by the same website! Clownfish communicate via popping and clicking noises! So imagine guppy!reader just popping her mouth as a small vocal stim (as one does, obviously) and Sun, my man (my fish?) is just over here thinking like—

*my guppy is trying to talk to me!! Oh my gosh they’re so cute! It’s all baby babble right now, but OH THIS IS PROGRESS!!!! Precious guppy! Sweet little sea pup!!*

Then proceeds to tell you his name in the popping and clicking!

You think he is playing so you mimic him! UNKNOWINGLY SAYING HIS NAME AND NOW HE IS HELLBENT ON TEACHING YOU THE REST!

And guppy is just like: 😮

BECAUSE WHO WOULDN’T BE?!

Poor Rose is just trying to understand why her daughter is clicking her tongue at her own mother, while also seeing this MONSTER (in her own eyes) just coo at her child with a gaze filled to the brim with outstanding pride!
