Guess who can't shut up about Nevermore!!
anywho as I was re-reading nevermore I noticed all the staff have a houndstooth pattern somewhere on their design
This, if you're wondering what I'm talking about
Merry and Mourn's hood cloak (?)
(Maybe the doll that they found also has it somewhere I forgot what chapter it is sorry)
I also started to research the hell out of this pattern, and here's what I found
The pattern started in Scotland (different sources give me different times that it was invented/worn) and was usually worn by shepherds because it was durable and easily seen
Other names for houndstooth are
dogstooth, dogtooth or dog's tooth
dog? hound?
I was writing this when I knew what I was going to say, but I'm blanking, so I'm doing my best to write down what I'm thinking as quickly as I can
Another thing that we know is that Nevermore is a place between the living and the dead
Back to the shepherd's thing, I believe that the staff are the 'shepherds' in this little world of theirs, and the students are the 'sheep' that they herd
This was going to be in more depth, but like I said, I started to forget, sorry! Tell me what you guys think, and if I'm just reading too deep into this
