Merry Midsummer/Rasos!.. Again. I like to celebrate the Summer Solstice on June 21st, however, in Lithuania, the traditional date of Rasos (Midsummer/"Day of thr Dews") is considered June 23rd, and my family has always celebrated the 23rd. Therefore, I simply consider the 21st-23rd of June the "Midsummer period" and celebrate all three days. 🌞

Also, my parents and I drank mead from my drinking horn in honour of Midsummer, which is pretty amazing. 🤘🏻

Lockdown Litha

Blessed Litha and Merry Midsummer to all! This has to be one of my favourite Sabbaths as there is nothing that makes me feel more alive than the feeling of the sun on my body!

To celebrate I have:

Basked in the sun and incorporated sun symbolic yoga into my getting up routine

Opened my window to cleanse my room

Put on makeup which included a lightening cream and bronze coloured eyeshadow, paired with my orange floral top (I feel very witchy in this)

Drew litha symbols on orange and yellow papers (one of which was a tag from a sunny brew of ginger and manuka honey)

Harvested summery wildflowers from my back garden and made a bouquet offering 

Gathered yellow rose petals to press for later spells

Put out my citrine crysal in the sun to charge

Added wealth to my altar with a copper penny and added intentions of growth and fulfilment to my altar

This evening I will complete a sunset ritual with a peach scented candle and toast to Litha and Sol with an orange infused gin!

Celebrating my midsummer in small ways today. My mother and I slept in, then we woke up to make smoothies. Full of peaches, cantaloupe, granola, chia, almond milk, greek yogurt and looots of honey! I have work today, thankfully I work outdoors, so I get to spend some time walking through the vineyard and appreciating nature’s little summertime miracles. Once I’m off work, I’m going to have sun tea, make a small batch of honey cakes, light my yellow candle and move my body outside in the sun. Gonna pick more nectarines and eat them off our tree, and I’ll check on my cosmos and zinnia seedlings which will grow throughout the summer and bloom for the fall. I always love these holidays, it’s a chance to just be deeply present with myself and the world, it’s a day full of reflection and connection. I hope everyone’s midsummer is nothing short of beautiful, regardless of the times we’re living in.

🌻 This afternoon I walked the labyrinth path with three of my co-housing neighbors, with joy and gratitude for summer. We all brought flowers to the altar and I added red currants for th he critters. 🌠
