The gutter saga continues ...
All of the gutter spinach died a few weeks ago. I think it was overwatered and shitty soil. I mixed in some good compost and pellet fertilizer and planted mesculin strips in it.
We’ll see how it does.
Dear Blue Caspian
I get what you're trying to do: k road meets the mediterranean and has a small party involving food. It's a valid dream. What isn't valid, however, is almost everything else you do. We should have known to book a table for a Friday night dinner, but just never got around to it. Sri panang was full, so was coco's cantina, so when Cory ran over to tell us that you only had one customer we were stoked. The tables were huge, we could have probably fit another 4 people around if we were that popular. The menus were laminated and spiral bound and all of the food had jazzy names, kebabestan was my favourite. The food arrived reasonably promptly and we were instantly amused. I don't know if I have ever seen that much mesculin in one place at any one time. Just like the menu, everything was jazzy. Underneath the mounds of lettuce was artfully drizzled sauce and they used olives to make powerful statements about consumerism. The food, to be honest, was not amazing. My filo parcel was literally the size of the palm of my hand which seemed outrageous for a main but what're you gonna do? I thoroughly enjoyed it when Sam's nachos came out hidden under half a packet of mesculin. Do not go expecting to be able to order everything on the menu. The deep fryer was broken which cuts out many things of the lardy variety and they were also out of apple juice. But all was redeemed when we ordered dessert! My oh my I wish you could have seen the way they set up the dessert. They literally brought in 6 other people to start making them, which was understandable when we saw the effort put in! I can personally recommend the brandy snaps. Over all, I feel like you should go for the entertainment value, not for the authenticity of the food. Sincerely, Little Red P.s thanks to Grandma for the dinner. Rad.
