☆ Denki Kaminari x female Reader ☆ ( long one-shot || part 1 || part 2 ) ☆ ( 17+ ) time skip characters/ aged-up, situationship, light conflict, messy relationships. ❯❯❯❯ MHA Masterlist || MAIN Masterlist || ‧₊˚♪ 𝄞 hot girl bummer - blackbear ♪ ˚⊹
You could call what you're doing wrong... But was it really that inappropriate? Him, of all people. It may be douchey of him for breaking bro-code, or for messing with the girl one of his mates has been seeing, but was it all that serious?
It's a complicated label and even more of a complicated relationship.
Katsuki was sort of a rigid guy, sharp, and could never dull down for a girl like you; there were only a few times where he let loose. And by "loose," it meant hanging a hand around your waist. He didn't even lean into you; he just stood in the proximity without interest.
Katsuki wasn't your boyfriend; you both didn't even have sex. The closest ride of pleasure with him was a make-out session inside a cramped closet. Friends, beer, and cigarettes were what led to that exclusive exchange. It was good for only a few moments; his heat and his pressing weight on yours drive you into new territories you didn't know you could uncover. And then all that stopped, Katsuki grumbled under his breath; the scent of your breath was suffocating. Smoking two sticks with Sero wasn't a good idea, well, to him at least. Being modestly high was a better scenario than awkwardly crashing teeth with this bombshell.
But even so, it was difficult for both of you.
After that you both sort of began this unofficial official affair. You weren't seeing anyone, and for him... Katsuki wasn't eager to open up to you.
Your time spent with each other was just moments, one-sided. You couldn't demand attention. You also had pride, but what made you furiously frustrated was his indifference. Obviously, Katsuki wasn't much of an open book; he had always been difficult to read. However, what made it maddening was that he always seemed to harden within your presence. Even with some alcohol or relaxers, he quite couldn't be soft with you. He felt more guarded, uninviting, and had that perpetual frown between his brows.
But within these harsh circumstances, you always seem to stick around him. Did you hate yourself? Were you desperate for the chase? Or were you stuck?
You know Katsuki always had a bad mouth; you already welcomed that. You always ate down his brash tone when every single one of his complaints showed teeth. This was sort of a side of Bakugo that you could only associate him having for you, but to your surprise, you weren't alone in this issue.
You were with some of your girlfriends; Katsuki sort of left you to go do his own things with the guys. Again, it wasn't much of an issue; you wanted the company of your girls. It was a send-off that made you a bit angry with him; starting an argument was a no-go. You weren't in the mood to start a disagreement.
Being in the presence of your friends healed any simmering anger you had with Katsuki; Momo and Jirou were a pair that you loved being around. They sort of contrasted the relationship you had with your male friends. It was easier to be vulnerable with them; in that temperament you felt comfortable enough to complain about your relationship with Katsuki.
Well... What appears to be.
They both were aware of the less illicit affair. Momo and Jirou knew how Bakugo could be; that brash and unfiltered side of him was sort of an advantage to him in several aspects. But not in the relationship appeal. Who would have guessed this hard-headed spiked head would never soften down for someone like you? Shame."
"I know we're not basically together... it's hard to say what we are."
"You call that a situationship."
"It appears to be."
You all sat down in a cafe together; it was mid-afternoon, and you all were having a girls' hangout. You talked about your relationship with Katsuki, hoping to maybe get an opinion; it's more so you're looking for encouragement to leave; you weren't really holding on to stay in this affair. You both never went further than making out from time to time. You weren't really sure what Katsuki was gaining from his relationship with you. You only met him in your freshman year of college; only later into the school years did you both grow close but not warm.
It was a step above acquaintance but nothing to call friendly. It was like he only knew you for one thing.
"It's weird how Bakugo hasn't done anything with you; sure, you guys are close and all, but I see no point in him and you as a pair."
"Yes, I do find it quite strange."
A hand reached your temple as you tried to think of a reason why you both keep hanging out.
"You should reconsider your relationship if you value your time." Jirou says.
"I know you're not the type to waste your time on something as pointless as this affair."
"It's not really an affair at this point. He's probably just bored." You grumble into your seat.
"I know you're cool with the guys, but even then it feels like Bakugo treats you a step above Kaminari." Jirou reveals. She takes a sip of her drink as she gently fidgets with one of her earphones' jacks.
"Huh? What do you mean?" You question as your body turns to her.
"They don't really hang out as much, you see." Jirou states.
"They haven't really been on good terms as of now. I don't know why exactly, but the last time Kaminari and I hung out, he talked on and on about how Bakugo was being unreasonably mean."
By hearing that statement, reality sort of hit you.
"I don't think Kaminari is really the type of guy to get angry with a dude like Bakugo. I'm actually surprised he is."
You didn't really say much after and just allowed the words to process in your mind. You never really thought of Katsuki outside your own relationship; this somehow conflicted situationship became a bigger issue after Denki was mentioned. He was one of the guys that you often hanged out with. It was weird how you never noticed this new face from him.
"Even back in high school, Katsuki wasn't particularly friendly in the normal manner." Momo adds.
"Whatever it is, I don't really want to stick my nose in their business." Jirou says.
You were at a pause with your thoughts; you always wondered how this affair could turn into something much more. Besides, you thought that Bakugo would be your first time. Now you're at a leaning end to severing ties with him.
You didn't hate him. However you were annoyed at his lack of interest, his foul mouth was another thing; listing off things would only make things more reasonable to leave him. Right now all you could do is simmer in that frustration and try to finish your dessert.
Katsuki was getting on your nerves at this point.
"Hey, I was wondering if you want to come hang out with me and Kaminari." Jirou proposes an invite to you.
"It's just going to be at the music studio." She continues.
"We were actually developing a new beat. Something cool; I want you to come by and tell us what you think." Jirou states the proposal; it was indeed a tempting one.
You might actually go for it, knowing that you were already in the whim of your annoyance with Katsuki, you wanted to take your mind off him for a bit longer.
"Sure! I'll be there." You say.
Thinking back now, it may be that you put so much tense pressure on pursuing this affair with Katsuki, it's about time to diverge from his presence a bit and hang out with your friends.
Some time has passed; you parted ways with Momo and Jirou. Arriving back home, you did your usual; settling down into your own space, washing up, and having a nice meal helped with some of the thoughts that plagued your mind. Right now Katsuki wasn't the least bit on your mind.
You're in bed and scrolling through your phone; you continue to distract yourself from all the noise buzzing through your thoughts. Katsuki definitely pissed you off sometimes; I guess the vice of defense for being an asshole is that technically you weren't together.
In a sense you both were leading each other on.
But he could be a bit nicer...
It's not about listing off excuses for him now. You were already opening your schedule to a whole new different agenda. Hanging out with your friends, and in the process leave him out of your current life. This was completely normal and natural drift.
You were buried under mindless videos on your feed; you didn't try to turn on your brain, extending your mode of distraction from people. Until a chat bubble lit on your phone's notifications bar. It was a message from someone; you scroll down to your notifications when your eyes roll over to the most recent text shown on screen.
A recent text from Denki. "Heyyy, Jirou told me you were coming tomorrow."
A pause in the moment rings through; your fingers started to move on their own.
"Yeah, I heard you two working on a new beat." Replied.
Your eyes don't stray a second from the screen, waiting for his response. You look to his profile pic, a picture of him posing that was so Denki of him. He was such a homie to you; he can get along with almost anyone. You wonder why there was bad weight on his and Katsuki's relationship.
"Yeahh, totally! I credit myself for the beat on this one; Jirou is more of a lyricist, a totally cool composer! Anyway, can't wait to see you tomorrow!!" His reply reads out.
Reading his message almost felt like it had its own voice; you could hear Denki's voice in that message.
"I'm pumped to hear it! >:D" You reply.
The screen loaded, his message typing out.
"Alright, I'm excited! :DD"
A steady rose in your chest; for another instance, you were looking forward to spending time with someone, someone else. It wasn't Bakugo this time, but someone far less rigid.
You sit in this contentment for a while, your thumb hovered on your phone screen to exit the chat window. But before you do, a final text message appears on the screen.
"Want to hang out just the two of us after?"

His hair for sure thinned from stress lmfao
At the end of watching the latest episode with the backstory of Aizawa and the death of Shirakumo, I just cried for a long time, unable to calm down. I was overwhelmed by thoughts of how Horikoshi had treated Aizawa so cruelly, and I cursed the villain for turning our bright Shirakumo into the monster he became at the end of the story. But the most disgusting part was when I started imagining what kind of hero agency these three might have together, with their rooftop access, soundproof room, and kitten house.
IF NO ONE WRITES A FANFIC WHERE THEY ALL SUCCEED AND THEY'RE ALL ALIVE, HEALTHY, AND HAPPY, I'LL DRAW SO MANY FAN ARTS OF THEM THAT I'LL BE IN ALL YOUR LINKS AND SPAM !!!
And this messy fan art reflects something that wasn't shown in the manga or the anime, namely Kayama Nemui's tears at the moment of realizing Shirakumo's death, where I expressed all my pain from the series. I didn't expect to burst into tears like this.
