One thing that is consistently hilarious to me is that Anakin Skywalker, the Hero with No Fear, the Chosen One, the most powerful Jedi of his time, who will eventually become the infamous Darth Vader...
Is terrified of kids.
Yeah, he killed a lot of them. But when they are alive. He is visibly uncomfortable.
He doesn't want Ahsoka anywhere near him.
Before her, in Brotherhood, there are so many times when he says the Order would be crazy to give him a padawan. Obi-Wan tells him he'll be looking after younglings and he panics.
When he does eventually look after them, he struggles to gain their attention and has no idea what to say to them. He stutters and loses focus out of nerves in front of a group of tweens and children.
Padmé remarks she can't believe he let them teach. He can't believe it either.
When she tells him she's pregnant, there is a moment of hesitation where he just has no idea what to say. Sure, he's under a lot of stress as it is, and he's probably worried about how this will affect their lives. But I guarantee he was also just. Freaking out. Because this kid is literally his. He will love this child with all he has. But what is he going to do with it?
(What's really funny is he's pretty great with younglings, up until that one incident obviously. He just doesn't know it.)
