Support Mike McFarland (YYH fandom and not only)

You might know him as Master Roshi, Buggy the Clown, Jean Kirstein, Jean Havoc, or many others.

For the Yu Yu Hakusho fans, in the English dub, he voiced Komada (Kuwabara's friend), Butajiri, M3/Kai, Kazemaru, and Risho. YYH (which he worked on from 2002 to 2006) was likely the second anime he ever worked on as part of Funimation, after his work on DBZ.

Apart from voice acting, he was also an assistant ADR director for YYH, so he's likely helped craft some of the scenes and emotion in the dub that you love.

In January, he announced that he was suffering from a brain tumor, and a few days ago, industry friends who had been in charge of the fundraiser shared this.

No matter which series you enjoyed his work on, if you are able, please consider donating to the fundraiser his friends from the industry set up for him, or spreading the word. Comparing my design for Pro Hero: Tailman to Horikoshi's eventual design... I'd say I'm really proud of how closely we think 🥹

I love that we were both in agreement that Ojiro would become one big buff beauty with spiked back hair and a skin-tight undershirt with arm muscles for daaaayyyyyssss, and a snuggly signature shoulder fur. I'm still convinced he'll have his longer spiked hair in his 40s. You can pry lion's mane adult Ojiro from my cold dead hands.

To most in the fandom, he's "who? Oh, the tail guy" but to me, and some others, he's the best character in the show. A comfort. A safe space. A lil guy who I could turn back to again and again over the years when everything else was so turbulent.

Mike McFarland is a well known voice actor who is more known as voice actor roles for buggy from one piece, Master Roshi from dragon ball, Jean Kirschtein from attack on titan and Jean Havoc from full metal alchemist.

in January mike had a tennis ball-sized brain tumor removed but the diagnosis was unfortunately Glioblastoma which is a deeply rooted kind of cancer and Removing a tumor does not guarantee that the “roots” of the cancer in his brain will not produce another “bloom” or tumor.

at the moment mike is following a medical teams advice on working hard on recovery but the expense is high, a link to his go fund me is linked at the top if you want to donate please do, currently they are 86% close to the target goal.

Mike McFarland, English voice of Master Roshi and Yajirobe, as well as countless other characters in many dubs, and director of many dubs as well, has been diagnosed with Glioblastoma. He's had surgery to remove the tumor from his brain, but his recovery has been a tad rough, and he's being moved to a skilled nursing facility.
