God I miss the times before the trauma-induced hyperempathy. We used to be hypoempathetic due to our autism, and it felt right. We understood the world and ourselves. But that shattered, we're not allowed to feel anything but consideration for other people anymore. We're not allowed to feel okay when others are hurt.

There used to be a feeling of wholeness, but empathy feels like an endless suffocating flood, since something within us broke long ago. We're not supposed to be like this. Hypoempathy was our natural state. It all feels so far away now.
