I've been in a long distance relationship for 5 years where I used to see my boyfriend twice a month. When we first started dating I wasn't sure I was ace, but I came to realize my identity about a year into the relationship. He was really nice about respecting my boundaries and not pushing me into sex. I didn't mind having sex every once in a while if he wanted. Lately though, I've moved abroad and been apart from him for 10 months. (1 of 2)

We talk all the time online and our relationship has been strong. But I am worried because he is hinting heavily that he is going to propose when we are reunited in a few months. I do really love him and want to marry him, but this time alone has made me realize how much I enjoy not having to have sex. I hate that I am dreading seeing him because I don't want to restart the sexual part of our relationship and don't know what to say to him. (2 of 2)

I don’t have any magical solutions or cure-all sentences to give you, just this: be honest. If he loves you and respects you as much as he seems to, he should be open to having this conversation with you. Your comfort should mean a lot to him - he should want you to be happy and comfortable more than he wants sex. And it sounds like he does. It’s very possible that bringing this up will go over okay; after all, he’s been apart from you for the same amount of time.

Be honest. Start with how much you love him, how excited you are to see him, what you think for the future... and then lead into this. Have an honest conversation. You don’t have to cushion it with anything. “Hey, I really like how our relationship has been recently, actually - while I’m super excited to see you, I’m not interested in having sex again. That just really doesn’t make me happy or comfortable, and I’d rather just be with you without that being an element.”

Cutest gang leader baby! He's adorable both when timid and taking charge (and still crying). And that whiny accent is the best. He would get pretty points for the tattoo and all but he makes such awkward faces half the time that he's stuck in the adorkable zone.

Claire Stanfield

From a rating standpoint he is quite hot, admittedly. I feel a kinship with the rare red hair/brown eye combo, so he immediately had my attention. Personality wise, he's interesting but probably too much for me.
