Mark Twain's "The Man That Corrupted Hadleyburg" best short story ever or best short story ever? Discuss.

I will say this: it is one of my favorite short fiction pieces of all time. So much so that an original copy of the 1899 Harper’s magazine in which it first appeared is one of my prized possessions.

Discussion of the story and its literary merits would take much more time than I have to give to it now. But you’ve inspired me to write something about it soon.

What do you consider your biggest achievement at work? What are your biggest challenges? Tell me about a time there was a conflict, either with another employee or with a client, and how you handled it.

I’m pretty proud of a few things I’ve accomplished at [Company].

First, our web statistics have consistently trended upward since I began. This is in part due to the increased use of social media to promote blog posts and publications by my colleagues. In fact, within the past year, the top referrers to our website have been social media networks - which wasn’t previously the case. I’m proud of a double digit increase in both page views and visitors - last month we exceeded our previous highest traffic month to date - by 8%.

But traffic isn’t everything - I’m also proud of the increase of knowledgeable, relevant content on our site. I’ve worked hard to promote the idea that content is king - and I’ve worked hard to encourage people to write that content. It’s been a challenge, but I believe that’s also contributed to the increase in traffic.

On a more fun note, I’m pleased that an idea I had - to wear jeans one Friday a month in exchange for donating to a charity - has continued for over a year. I love that we pick a new charity each month to learn about and support. It makes me very proud that because of my idea, we’ve contributed to several charities in the Grand Rapids area.

I've watched a few episodes and fine them...full of potential. I love their chemistry, but some of the story lines dont do it for me. Do you think they find their footing further on or are the first 4-5 episodes reflective of them all?

Yes. So much yes. I think midway through the first season it really hits its stride and it just keeps getting better. The focus shifts from "monster of the week" to long term story arcs and it becomes more compelling.

I had no idea people were this passionate about mouse positioning. This is like the toilet paper over vs. under debate.

The over-under TP issue is a "debate" the way negotiating with libertarian Congresspeople is a debate: only one side is actually interested in facts and solutions.
