She lives in a kinda apocalyptic world and loved learning about the world before it and when the plant life from before came back this type of flower she always carried a picture of was named after her
She posthumously got a species of plant that came to exist in-universe (called Marewill flowers) named after her. (Technically, the plants existed, under some other name, long before she was born, but they and all other green plants went extinct due to their planet spending a millennia as a hellscape; Mare, however, dreamed of a world that would be restored to its former glory, which drove a lot of the trilogy's plot, and once the people she'd left behind more or less achieved her goal, the flowers she'd tried to put back in the world were named in her honor.) So her name and the name of a flower are now linked even though they weren't during her life.
