I agree that at the end of the day, it’s just a video game and it’s not that deep. It shouldn’t be. But like at the same time...there’s just stuff in there that needs to be criticized, you know? Like the tone-deafness when it comes to Dorian defending slavery or Solas “calling out” Vivienne in that one dialogue. Or like how some characters were just written badly like Anders and basically any character written by Lukas Kristajskskjdjk.
There’s also the big problem with racism and whitewashing. I still see art of Zevran that’s too pale and Fenris too; not to mention Alistair. Then there’s white Solas with dreads. I wanna say something half the time but then I’m like.. is it even worth the energy sometimes?
Another big problem that I’ve seen is that some people just aren’t aware of basic etiquette? Don’t hijack someone’s post. Make your own. Also don’t??? Put character hate in the tag??? Use “anti ____” or “_____critical” or something along those lines. And like...don’t follow people who hate on a character you like or vice versa? That one should be obvious.
There’s also like a big chunk of the fandom that needs to learn that you’re allowed to like a villain. You don’t have to pull stuff out of your ass to justify it. Like for example, Azula from AtLA. I like her character, she was interesting. Does that mean that I agree with her actions? No. Am I gonna make up stuff to say that she was actually right? Also no. You like a villain. That’s it.
