#johnmuirtrail was closed due to #rockslides. Had to backtrack through #misttrail. What a painful descent with a pack on. #rangers didn't bother giving us a heads up about the closure the day we picked up our permits. Cost us an extra two hours. Thanks for headsup and yes for the millionth time I have a #bearcan and know the storage rules. (at Yosemite National Park)

In life we naturally find ourselves doubting our achievements, feeling like what we have completed is not “big enough”, and when we take a few steps (or miles) back we realize how great of an adventure we truly have been on. Comparison is easy and we must remind ourselves that we each have a special journey made just for us. This hike was a beast and we also started at 2:30pm in 95 degree scorching sun and heat. So others got to the trails before us and were finishing when we started and in the moment we felt like we had messed up the day due to unforeseen circumstances with our travel. We were beating ourselves up for it but as the days continued in our trip and looking back - We wouldn’t change it to any other way as the hike was extremely tough and painful but was well worth seeing Yosemite throughout the whole day and then finished our hike at sunset with only a handful of hikers left on the trail. 💦 𝗛𝗶𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝗬𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗲 💦 At 5:00am, I hopped in a carpool and daytripped from Sacramento to Yosemite Valley to hike Mist Trail with 12 other incredible women — before the new reservation system comes out (it’s put into effect on May 20)! Mist Trail is Yosemite’s signature hike. It’s 7 miles round trip (8.5 miles if you walk to/from Curry Village which is where we parked). The best time go is April - June for waterfall flow. It takes you by Vernal and Nevada Falls and has STUNNING views! But it’s also mostly rock stair switchbacks on the way up that’ll have you feeling like you got a BBL the next day. 😅 Vernal Fall (pictured) was my favorite section. I’ve done this part a couple other times in different seasons, but this was the first time I saw it like THIS 🌈! They don’t call it Mist Trail for nothing. Prepare to be wet. And in awe.
