With my moment of weakness this morning, I'll admitt something.

I miss my mom.

She is not dead, but I haven't been able to be around her due to my mental health.

I remember when I first saw her after my 1st cousin passed away.

After the funeral.... outside in the parking lot....

I literally gave her the biggest hug of my life and cried all the tears I had held in during the service.

That moment has stayed with me because it highlighted the bond between a mother and son who before that time had been fractured for years....

It all just crumbled away to be comforted by her.

As fleeting as that moment was I hold it close to my heart.

I envy the relationships that kids, old and young, have with their parents, even my own. I carry it like I do everything else, alone and tucked away.

I've been doing this "Dad thing" for 11 years now and getting to know these human beings has been a trip. I can only pray I give them better than I am capable of for myself.
