#octoberhorrormoviechallenge 25: Halloween 6 The Producers’ Cut After a break due to technical difficulties, it’s back to the Halloween franchise. This sequel is perhaps one of the more effective ones, as it has gobs of atmosphere, Michael being filmed as a genuinely unnerving presence again, good use of music, and some pretty good acting, including a positively baby-faced Paul Rudd. The main problem it has though is an overdose of plot, there are far too many moving parts to the story, like they had three ideas for sequels they tried to smoosh together. Part of that comes from having to explain Halloween 5’s idiotic ending, and what they come up with certainly stretches credibility to an absurd degree. (In short, Druids did it. With magic runes.). We have come a very long way since the elegant simplicity of the original, and I dare anyone to try to say this one’s revelations make any sense in regard to the first. Still, it’s one of the more enjoyable Michael Myers sequels I’ve seen so far… but this isn’t what was actually released in cinemas in 1995, it’s “The Producers’ Cut” because the distributors insisted on essentially remaking the film, so this became a bit of a collectable bootleg item for several years, until it got an official blu ray release. Therefore, next film I’m going to watch is the theatrical version, to see how different it is.
