So this reaction is not as well formulated as I had originally planned thanks to tumblr closing halfway through.

I have mixed reactions about this.

I loved the Jamie content (completely ignoring the 2nd part of Jamie’s meltdown as it didn’t fit in with the feel or vibe and was played for laughs).

I loved that right off the bat, you can tell there is something off about Jamie at the press conference - hunched in on himself, avoidant and just down even before he speaks and basically trash talks all that  he’s done so well.

I love Trent’s insight of Roy’s ‘love language’ to mama Lasso.

I loved Jamie’s reaction to Roy’s confrontation  on Jamie’s debbie downer humble bullshit on so may levels. At first we have the slightly cocky, indifferent Jamie (walks lazily unbothered, head lolling like he’s saying ‘bring it on’) - it’s subtle, but it’s there, and such a parallel to  Ted’s ‘practice rant, but instead of Jamie stiffening up, he completely breaks and looks genuinely distressed and panicked (the whole repetitive ‘I don’t know’s, flapping hands, circling) and in despair - his honest admission of not being able to sleep or eat or even condition his hair - this was raw and just spot on.

I mean, he looks pale and exhausted and just needs looking after,

still has the right vibe here ☝☝☝☝

The 2nd part, I actually saw in gif form before the episode, and genuinely thought Jamie was drunk or off his face on something, and just felt wrong and played for laughs, so instead im going to imagine a missing scene and head canon that Roy’s ‘Instant Jamie Care Package is activated’ at the words not sleeping and not eating and he fucks off to passively aggressively feed Jamie and enforce nap time on him.

Jamie and the suitcase was sweet and although slightly amusing, probably has multiple layers, shows how conflicted Jamie is right now and also made me think Jamie has Imposter Syndrome and might think he doesn’t deserve to be back with Richmond and, despite how obvious he’s a huge part of the Richmond Family, he’s really insecure about it and where he fits in.

Jamie’s visit home - not just the fact that he just needed his mum’s hug and a moan and a ‘ your dad is a prick talk’ but the fact that Jamie has a step dad who seems to be a really supportive figure.

Jamie playing beautifully despite how much the City Fans are being pricks to him.

Okay, so Ted’s speech to Jamie - sure, is it the greatest vibe, well no, but is it what Jamie might need right now? I get what Ted’s saying - is hating on his dad really helping right in that moment, is Jamie letting his feelings for his dad hold him back - well yes, but it’s complicated. Simplistically, Ted is telling him to let it go, let himself forgive, for now at least, so that James Tartt Snr doesn’t ruin this moment for Jamie. Realistically, Jamie needs a much deeper conversation about this, but in that moment, Jamie can just let it go, like poopy, he doesn't need to forget it. I’m very conflicted about this, and I really think there needs to be a follow up to this, especially in light of the fact that we now know James is in what looks like rehab, because ‘oh yay he looks like he’s proud of his son’ because he’s sober 🙄🙄🙄, and I do not want this to be an instant James Tartt Snr redemption story. I mean, Jamie doesn’t know that at all, just the viewers so at least Jamie played for himself and not his dad.

Also head-canon is that Roy whispered ‘I’m proud of you’ (* stamps feet in full tantrum that I didn’t get to hear what was said *

And Ted has a truth bomb for Rebecca - is he leaving? 

More nitpicks:

I needed someone to say Jamie is a shite in nining armour - if he isn’t it I’m going to be super pissed off.

Also, also, someone needs to have a more deeper conversation about James Tartt Snr with Jamie because there’s ‘forgiving’ but reaching out to your abusive prick of a father to check if he’s okay doesn’t sit right and yeah maybe James is trying to do right the thing by going to rehab but I saif it before and I’ll say it again, I cannot accept instant redemption

Also, also, also, are Ted and Jamie ever going to have that conversation about going back to Man City, because I think it would be such a boost to Jamie’s self esteem to realise that Ted never wanted to Jamie to leave in the first place.

God, there’s so much to unpick about this episode but foe now I’m just going to to forever remember Jamie ugly crying and admitting he isn’t eating or sleeping and the little prick cinnamon roll is tired and emotional And Roy instantly activating Jamie Tartt Care package

Rise Of Skywalker Review

Ok so spoilers below but overall I liked the movie. It was silly and has problems but it was fun to watch and laugh at some times. Undercut is really long fyi.

Liked

Force weirdness

The way the force connection between Ben and Rey was developed was so cool. Like in the past two movies I thought it was stupid, but they showed how this was developing over time to the point where they could transfer items to each other. This made the final lightsaber pass off so cool and felt warranted. 

Lesser so, but still like, the way they introduced into film force healing was done well enough that the final scene where Ben dies feels like it fits and isn’t out of place. Also Palpatine straight up stole the life from Ben and Rey and just like death fielded them  and shot lightening miles into the sky which was cool.

Character relations

Besides the first few minutes, (which lines felt really forced) the way all the character interacted felt so real. I loved Rey, Poe, Finn, C3-P0 and Chewie as a team. They just seemed to mesh so well and worked together like real friends

Kylo redemption

Some people are going to be really mad that I liked this, but I did really like how they did Ben’s redemption. When he threw the lightsaber into the ocean it felt so right and earned. You could see the conflict in his character building all movie and finally it came to a valid conclusion. Him dying to conclude his arch felt earned. It showed that he truly had changed. 

Reylo

Again something I might get a lot of criticism for, but let me explain. In the past two movies I didn’t care for Reylo, but I didn’t hate it either. I think the internet made it too much of a polarized topic for no reason. Although in this movie they really did try to develop proper tension between them. I wouldn’t have cared either way if this resulted in a friendship or a romance but they did do it in a way that was fun to watch. 

Also him kissing her and then dying is just kinda funny. Like if he was going to die, I would have done it right away or not at all. I wouldn’t have minded if her survived and there was some like crazy shit about Rey trying to explain that he was good now and everyone just being confused. (Straight up Arcann joining the alliance all over again)

Finn

Really short but I think the idea of Finn having the force makes sense and was cool, but I wish more was done with it

Finn and Poe

Their friendship is so wholesome but it leaves me a little confused. The homosexual subtext is killing me. Like...what? Rose was such a big character in the last movie, and they spent so long developing her character but she didn’t do anything meaningful in this movie. Why do it? I don’t get it.

I have two solutions to this. Either make Rose a bigger character in this movie and better develop their romance or completely scarp her character and make them gay. Or make Poe Bi since I did like the flirting with the spice girl.

C3-P0 (Weirdly long one)

His character was simply so fun in this movie. Every time he was on scene I was just having fun and it was a great way to break tension without being out of character for anyone. I loved everything about his character in this movie. One thing I might have changed, or was just kinda hoping would happen is when the whole memory debacle happened things turned out differently.

Ok so stay with me a moment. Just imagine, since the line that R2 has a terrible memory system was thrown in, instead of C3-P0′s memories just being from like a few months ago, they were fucking years ago. Like the last backup R2 had was from the clone wars or something and C3-P0 is just going on about the invasion of Naboo or something and everyone is like stfu we have better stuff to do.

This could even play into Ben’s story a little if they ever met face to face for some weird reason and Ben asks about Anakin. He still knows Anakin just as a kid/teen/young adult and it helps Ben realize where he’s gone wrong.Maybe not but I think it would be funny.

Chewie and Leia

I literally cried when Chewie cried after Leia died. He was now all alone and that’s so sad and well done and her funeral was beautiful which brought me more tears.

Confused/Disliked

First few minutes

Idk the beginning of the film just felt off. The lines seemed forced and everything seemed just a little ou f character. Why was everyone so mad at each other for no reason and then that just go away?

How a Palpatine? And why?

Just how is Ray Palpatine’s granddaughter? When did he have a kid? Also he was really set on getting Ray back to him alive, or not depending on who you ask, but didn’t care about his child. One of Ray’s parents were his child, I think they said son but i don’t remember, and he just ordered some random sith to kill them. Yet he wanted Ray alive. Why?

And then there’s how? I’m pretty sure Ray is too young for her parents to be born before his death, but if he did have a kid before he died it would have been very close to his death. This meant the old wrinkled fucker had sex with someone. WHO! 

Why no development on Finn’s force powers?

That’s really it. Just they didn’t do anything with this.

Hux

I liked the idea of Hux being the spy just because he despises Kylo but then he just dies. I kinda wanted him to just go with the resistance and everyone was like wtf but they couldn’t turn him away because he had valuable information. And he would just be like I hate you all but I hate Kylo more and work with them.

There is more I could talk about and I might later but this is all I can think of for now

Sehun:  Oh boy did the jealousy come out in this boy whenever your best friend hang around. And not because Sehun was an overly jealous person, but mostly because the level of attention that your best friend showed you was almost...concerning. And the fact that you didn’t think anything of how overly friendly he was acting made him feel a little off put.

“Are you okay, Sehunnie?” you questioned seeing the look on his face while he was watching you set the table.

“He keeps touching and flirting with you...I don’t like it...” he replied looking towards the bathroom where your friend had gone.

“Stop being jealous, he’s not flirting with me,” you said.

“Him being all handsy says otherwise...”

“He’s always been like that.”

“Make him stop before I do...”

Youngjae: Youngjae wasn’t one to easily get jealous, when it came to you he knew that you loved him unconditionally and adding the fact that you were soulmates made your love and bond even stronger. But your best friend got under his skin; he knew that you had known him since you were really little and you didn’t really pay much attention to it when your best friend would hug you or put an arm around you.

But even though you couldn’t see these attempts to flirt with you, Youngjae could see that there was more behind those small gestures and the way your best friend looked at you didn’t help any either.

“Can I kill him?” Youngjae questioned Jaebum as they watched you walk away from your friend.

“No...”

“Maim?”

“Mmmm best not to...”

“Break his nose?”

“That’s doable.”
