Marley sipped her punch, wishing desperately that there was tequila, vodka - anything in it. She should’ve been having fun, but she was miserable. She loved Blaine, but what they were doing wasn’t real. She looked at the people in love everywhere. She’d always sworn she didn’t want that, and she didn’t, but then why did she wanna throw her red-cup at every couple who looked all googly eyed?

She swallowed hard, startling when she felt someone next to her, “Jesus, you scared me,” she said, tensing up.

As the next group of Glee Club members made their way onto the stage, Blaine walked back into the crowd, feeling content with the performance he’d just given. Being on stage had helped him get rid of the tension that had been building up inside of him ever since he got here, and he finally felt somewhat relaxed, for the first time that night. Although prom was the highlight of the year for most students, it was a night Blaine would have much rather skipped; if it hadn’t been for Marley, he might not have showed up at all. It didn’t seem like a night he would enjoy; not after he’d ended up with a broken jaw and ribs, a concussion and several other cuts and bruises -- not to mention the emotional scars --, at the last school dance he’d attended, back at his old school. 

But this year was different. A different school, different people... a different Blaine -- to the outside world, at least. He may not exactly be popular, but he had not given anyone in this school a reason to jump him either. So, much to his own surprise, a smile appeared on his face as he walked over to the drink table. As Blaine reached the edge of the dance floor, where it was much less crowded, he began to turn around to watch the performance on stage. Halfway through his turn, however, he ended up bumping into someone instead. A barely audible gasp escaped him, as he quickly backed away, and he almost immediately cursed himself for overreacting like that. So much for feeling relaxed... “I’m sorry -- are you okay?”

Good evening to our Mainstreamers and Outcasts alike,

I’m sure you’re all having a great time but there’s just that little something you are waiting for and that is the announcement of our new Prom Royalty. And we don’t want to keep you in suspense any longer.

The Prom Queen and King of 2017 are:

Hunter Clarington and Mercedes Jones

The Prince and Princess of 2017 are:

Sebastian Smythe and Marley Rose

Congratulations to both of our pairs. Although the latter is as shocking to us as to a lot of you I’m sure. We might have to recount the votes. That can’t be right.

Now we come to a part of the evening that is the last official one but not the least of course. Our Best Dressed tonight are: 

Quinn Fabray and Ryder Lynn! 

They both win a Lima Bean gift card and a free appointment at Planned Parenthood as long as it still exists. 

A big round of applause for all our deserved winners. We ask those who go home empty handed tonight to not be lousy losers and resort to petty actions. This is not a popularity race. Except it totally is. 

We also heard that someone messed with the punch so we will exchange it for something untainted soon. Thank you to the tattletales students who let us know. 

Now have a good rest of the night. We sure will.
