I'm new to taco so I'm a bit confused abt what Tom likes abt Draco, what attracted him and what kept his attention bc there's many traits of him that Tom seem to despise but either overlook or finds... endearing? on Draco (especially in TTC and Alley Cat). Is it a 'he got used to him and then got attached' or something else? like how some ppl who dislike animals got attached to a pitiful one that is always near or is it something abt Draco himself?

It's true that the greatest challenge to writing Taco is positioning them in a setting where Tom wouldn't utterly despise Draco. But tbh I could come up with a million reasons why Tom would despise and murder any of the characters he's commonly shipped with (except in tomcest, where he would still murder his other self, but wouldn't despise them). He's just that kind of guy ❤️

I don't see Draco as exceptional or the most narratively logical ship character for Tom, but I also don't see it as particularly more implausible than any other Tom ship. But I write Taco simply because Tom and Draco are my favourite characters.

I do believe that, under the right circumstances, Draco can exhibit traits that Tom values like loyalty, courage and competence. Draco is also morally flexible enough to not become an unacceptable obstacle to Tom. I am of the, perhaps unpopular, opinion that Tom wouldn't want a partner who he would feel truly challenged by—magically or intellectually. Like, imo Tom would perceive that as a threat, not a turn on. He's not insecure, but he is paranoid. And he wouldn't be able to trust someone who could potentially overpower him (that being said, I still ship Grindelmort).
