a corvid with ears?
No, this is not some obscure superhero you've never heard of before.
This is Monster Bird, the villainous giant robot that battled Iron King in episodes 6 & 7 of his TV series.
Giving myself a better understanding of what's going on with Jay's feather trails. It'll be changing as the story goes but this is how starts.

I watched a let's play of Birds Watching. I really liked the atmosphere of the game, but I have some questions about the endings.
"I heard a noise at the hallway, but I didn't mind it as I assumed it was just a bird of the many there are flying around the garden. When I turned around the corner I sort of discovered I wasn't so wrong, but certainly it wasn't what I was expecting either. I didn't know birds could fly like that or get that big, very least, I didn't know how fast I could run from whatever that was. This is why I like cats"

This one inspired by the short film "Don't feed the birds"
Creature File: Decoygrace
Scientific Name: Hominuravis reclusa Common Name(s): Decoygrace, False-Widowbird, Ghost Heron, Lureback
Classification
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Avescens (disputed; shares traits with both avian and aberrant species)
Order: Luriformes
Family: Ambushavidae
Species: H. reclusa
Type: Terrestrial / Carnivore / Illusory Predator
Alignment: Neutral (wild instincts, not naturally hostile unless provoked or hungry)
Size Range
Height (at shoulder): ~1.9–2.2 m
Full body length (beak to tailtip): 4–5 m
Mass: 80–110 kg
Lurehead size: Proportional to adult human (1:1)
Wingspan
Average Wingspan: 4.5 to 6 meters
Wing Type: Long and arched; designed for short glides and sudden takeoffs, not long-distance flight.
Flight Behavior:
Rarely flies except when startled, hunting from above, or relocating nesting grounds.
Uses powerful leaps and wing-assisted bounds to cross marshy terrain with grace.
Glides silently through tree canopies or across misty lakes when stalking prey.
Its flight is surprisingly quiet—thanks to frayed, owl-like feather edges on the wings.
Intelligence & Behavior
High natural cunning; not sentient, but capable of primitive problem-solving.
Shy and elusive, prefers ambush or avoidance over direct confrontation.
Will stalk targets from dense underbrush or forest, only attacking when it can ensure a kill.
Leaves confusing, reversed footprints—its legs bend unnaturally backward to mislead trackers.
Nesting females are extremely territorial and aggressive.
May decorate the humanoid lurehead with moss, feathers, or foliage to simulate “hair,” improving mimicry.
Anatomy & Abilities
Tail-Lure: A fleshy, humanoid-shaped decoy with facial features and vocal folds. Emits faint humanlike sobs, humming, or distressed calls to draw in prey—especially apex predators (Including Anatomorphs), scavengers, or empathetic humanoids.
Leg Morphology: Legs bend backward unnaturally—possibly an evolutionary defense mechanism to confuse followers or leave misleading tracks.
Beak: Long, needle-pointed and serrated for slicing flesh. Not adapted for crushing bones.
Eyesight: Excellent night vision. Cannot see ultraviolet light.
Feathers: Oil-coated and water-resistant, providing camouflage and insulation in wetlands.
Vocal Range: Capable of mimicking limited human sounds with its tail-lure. Has its own avian screeches for territorial calls.
Habitat
Dense wetlands, ghost marshes, rainforests, and misty forests.
Often found near ruins or abandoned villages, where human curiosity helps lure in prey.
Constructs shallow nests in reeds or low mossy hills. Solitary or paired for life.
Threat Level: Tier 3 (Moderate)
Individual Threat: Medium — Will avoid conflict if spotted but can kill an adult human in under 10 seconds.
Group Threat: Low — Rarely gathers in numbers unless during breeding season.
Special Danger: Highly effective at luring rescuers or adventurers to their doom.
Precautions: Do not respond to isolated humanlike sounds in remote areas. Never follow a "cry for help" unless visual confirmation is established.
Myths & Folklore
Said to be cursed messengers of grief or loss, appearing after someone vanishes.
Some cultures believe the lurehead contains the trapped soul of a human it devoured.
In certain shrines, effigies of Decoygraces are left out to ward off reckless explorers.
New creature drop. Introducing, the Groven. Have fun, and please credit me for the original creature design. Also, tag me in your pics of them if you make your own!
Art/Creature is by me.
With hollowed tendrils at their core, these big birds are able to take flight and glide throughout the skies.
When prey is spotted Zoners will often dive at their target and attempt to pin and impale the being. If there’s a group, they will impale a target and fly away from the others to ensure their meal doesn’t get stolen and so they won’t get attacked.
They’re able to regenerate the membrane between their wings however damaging but enough will ensure they are unable to fly
