Each of the Smiths/Sanchezs relationships with their counterparts represent different types relationships specifically with their inner selves
Beth and Space Beth: Romantic relationship that succeeds. They both become more confident and self assured. Space Beth cares more about the family because of Beth whereas Beth learns that she isn’t defined by caring for them; she’s her own person.
Jerry and Mooch: Friendship that succeeds. Specifically a friendship that helped them to develop into better versions of themselves. Mooch faces up to the consequences of leaving. Jerry learns how good he has it.
Prime and Rick: Enemies. Self-hatred. Self destruction. They may have once been friends or lovers, but it turned dark. A dart board with an ex’s face on it.
Morty and Evil Morty: Acquaintances or a developing relationship. This one is complicated. Evil Morty helps Morty to become a more confident, reassured version of himself. Whereas, Morty helps EM to realize that he can still have his independence, but keep his empathy and close relationships with others. He doesn’t have to be alone. An introvert versus an extrovert.
Summer and Summers: She hasn’t had an established counterpart yet. There is a version in the comics, but I don’t know enough about her. There is Night Summer, but that was within herself and not a separate relationship like the others. Though, when we see different versions of Summer like Night Summer and Matrix Summer(even versions that only show up for a second), she’s always very confident and self sufficient. She takes on leader roles very well, but will become extremely manipulative and callous when needed. When she fights alternate versions, she very quickly dispatches them even pretending to be friendly before betraying them like the above photo.
well
Jerry encouraging Mooch to face his problems head on is such lovely character development from how he was back in the early seasons, someone who was way more cowardly and non-confrontational
Nomortland thoughts
It's so funny that Rick just yelled 'Jerry! I'm still angry at you for talking to me!'
I never knew that that song was in English until now. I just heard 'awumbeway' lol.
I loved Jerry grabbing Rick by the hair.
Jerry saying 'my Rick could beat up your Rick' was so funny and kind of unexpected. Honestly, if the Jerrys knew what C-137 had done to Prime (excluding the fact that he needed Evil Morty's help), they probably would've been intimidated by it.
I know people have spoken a lot about the lack of B-plots this season and tbh this episode could've done with one.
Jerry keeping a 12 pack of beer in the bathroom so he can have a 'shower beer'? Is anyone in this family not an alcoholic? Also has every time we've seen RIck drinking that beer been him stealing from Jerry's stash? That's so funny
It was pretty cool to see Paul Fleischman again. I like how the show is committing to continuity of even these pretty minor details. This episode was very remniscient of Jerry's B-plot in Mortynight Run - no wonder it was airing next.
The beard reveal was a masterstroke honestly.
It's so cute that the family were genuinely worried about Jerry and searching for him.
Did Rick give Jerry his 'blessing' to cheat with Mooch at the end? That's so funny.
When we saw the Jerry watching Naked and Alone in the background of the chase, I was like 'omg is he naked while watching it? That's a funny little Easter egg' and then we got the post-credits scene lmao. Honestly it was actually pretty wholesome that Rick and Jerry were watching the show together (aside from them both having their bare ass and dick and balls on the sofa lol). Jerry finally found a way to make peace with Rick's nudity.
I'm lowk not an artist, and I'm embarrassed, but here's some Jerrycest that got more suggestive than intended.
I really liked this episode, because of the possibilities that stem from this one concept
You can have the Smith family being in danger, and Jerry, of all people, having a safe exit for the family (like, I imagine him dragging Morty to the closet, Morty struggling to break free because this is the dumbest hiding place, and then Jerry providing him with an escape route to another dimension)
You can have our Jerry, or Mooch Jerry, rousing up all those Jerries trapped in-between dimensions and forming a much more functional, healthy and effective interdimensional group, which can have actual chances of overpowering a villain... in their own, unique, unassuming, surprising Jerry, way.
The idea that Rick can be controlled by Jerry, if Jerry finds his "pressure points" (whatever that means) has been planted (did... did Boss Jerry get his Rick addicted to some pretty harsh drugs...?)
You can have Jerry searching around the house for passageways, like Mooch suggested he can, and finding a lot more than that one closet in the bedroom that lead to the blah dimension. Passageways that lead to creepy dimensions, or truly-dangerous-please-seal-this dimensions... or dimensions with plot-relevant revelations of titanic proportions, just waiting for someone to stumble on them. Jerry can have epic, plot-changing adventures triggering titanic after-effects all by himself.
You can even have one passageway leading to Eyepatch Morty's haven outside the Curve, because he sure as hell uses the same kind of technology as Rick does (I admit I think this one scenario is unlikely... but on the other hand all those portals opening without anyone going through them outside the Curve suddenly have a different feel to them).
(...and that void Boss Jerry disappeared into had a very distinct... colour theme...)
(...and I find the idea of a Jerry randomly popping out in Eyepatch Morty's home out of the blue when he's fighting aliens or something too funny)
