FIRST BUNDOK: MOUNT PINATUBO
I've been really curious about how liberating it feels when you reach the top of a mountain. And how it feels to to see that breathtaking view you only see on postcards. I think there is really something special about the climb, about every mountain you conquer.
So this year, I did some small research and end up with one of the easiest trail and climbed Mt. Pinatubo. When they say "easiest" it doesn't really mean you'll be walking on the park because after riding the 4x4 ride for an hour, which is the bumpiest but most fun ride I've ever been, you'll be needing to start trekking under the heat of the sun for 3-4 hours, depending on how much stop you make to take your snaps.
If you compare it to other mountains, trekking to the crater of mount Pinatubo is easier because there's no ascend. The only factors that make it so tiring and hard are the big rocks that you have to walk on and the intense heat of the sun. I recommend you put on a lot of sunblock or wear long sleeves and leggings. Also, wear trekking shoes or new rubber shoes so you won't have to lose your soles which happened to me! Thank God our local guide had duct tape I was able to make it to the crater!
For first timers, I think Mt. Pinatubo is a good choice. It may require a lot of walking and patience but when you finally get to the crater and see that breathtaking view, you'll realize everything was worth it. "Sabe nga nila mas masarap yung feeling kapag pinaghirapan mo." I guess that's why many climbers post their hugot lines when they climb a mountain. Parang pag-ibig ang pag-akyat ng bundok, ang saya sa simula, mahirap sa gitna, masarap gumive-up, pero kapag di mo sinukuan at the end of the journey, panalo ka! Sobrang sarap ng feeling! 💕
