FIRST BUNDOK: MOUNT PINATUBO
I've been really curious about how liberating it feels when you reach the top of a mountain. And how it feels to to see that breathtaking view you only see on postcards. I think there is really something special about the climb, about every mountain you conquer.
So this year, I did some small research and end up with one of the easiest trail and climbed Mt. Pinatubo. When they say "easiest" it doesn't really mean you'll be walking on the park because after riding the 4x4 ride for an hour, which is the bumpiest but most fun ride I've ever been, you'll be needing to start trekking under the heat of the sun for 3-4 hours, depending on how much stop you make to take your snaps.
If you compare it to other mountains, trekking to the crater of mount Pinatubo is easier because there's no ascend. The only factors that make it so tiring and hard are the big rocks that you have to walk on and the intense heat of the sun. I recommend you put on a lot of sunblock or wear long sleeves and leggings. Also, wear trekking shoes or new rubber shoes so you won't have to lose your soles which happened to me! Thank God our local guide had duct tape I was able to make it to the crater!
For first timers, I think Mt. Pinatubo is a good choice. It may require a lot of walking and patience but when you finally get to the crater and see that breathtaking view, you'll realize everything was worth it. "Sabe nga nila mas masarap yung feeling kapag pinaghirapan mo." I guess that's why many climbers post their hugot lines when they climb a mountain. Parang pag-ibig ang pag-akyat ng bundok, ang saya sa simula, mahirap sa gitna, masarap gumive-up, pero kapag di mo sinukuan at the end of the journey, panalo ka! Sobrang sarap ng feeling! 💕
We only spent 2,050 for the day tour including van transfers, 4x4 ride and meals. Feel free to contact Ms. Sonia Bognot for details: 09186021943

Until our next adventure. ♥
Because climbing mountains became popular this year, I tried my first hike at Mount Pinatubo.
It’s the shakiest video I’ve ever made and that’s literally how we felt riding the 4x4. I’ll be blogging my experience soon! But for now, I hope you enjoy this! ♥
KADAYAWAN SA DAVAO 2015
My friends and I started our annual “Experience Philippine Festival” travels from 2013 at Sinulog Festival where we got intensely painted and stoked from the streets of Cebu, followed by a wet and wild street party last year at Bacolod’s Masskara Festival. This year, our annual thirst for festival continues! We chose to fly all the way to the Crown Jewel of Mindanao, Davao City to experience one of the Philippine’s most celebrated festival, the Kadayawan sa Dabaw. Of course we made the most of our time there, and had a taste of adventure at Eden Nature Park and Samal Island.
KADAYAWAN FESTIVAL
On our first day, we woke up early in the morning and witnessed the streets filled with colorful floats and performers. They were all dressed up in their most vibrant costumes dancing to the festive beat. I was so excited that time I didn’t mind getting sun burned because I really wanted to interact with the kids and enjoy their performances. And yes, my friends and I did a little dancing on the street while the guards allow us. Haha! =)
KADAYAWAN INVASION & ARCADIA MUSIC FESTIVAL
Who said Dabawenyos don’t know how to party? Even though they have an extended curfew from 12 midnight to 2am for the festival, Dabawenyos surely know how to party big and make the most of their time. Unlike other festivals who party on the streets, Dabawenyos party far away from the city proper. I think it is their way of giving respect to elders who would be resting at night, as well as making their streets clean for the next day's event.
On our first night, we almost missed the Kadayawan Invasion because of our 12 hours delayed flight. We arrived at 12am and from the airport we rushed to our hotel and went straight to Crocodile Farm. The good thing was the party wasn’t over yet. We made the most of DJ Ace Ramos’ remaining set and had a great time together.
On our second night in Davao, we promised ourselves to make up with what we missed from the previous night and went to Arcadia Electronic Music Festival. Even though it took us an hour to get there, it was definitely worth it. I’d say it is one of the biggest, grandest and most unique party I’ve ever been. I love their Idea of putting up 3 different stages in one big resort slash theme park (The Festival and Carnival stages were for the Gold tickets and the Aqua Stage which has wave pool and Cabanas were for the VIPs), with the most in demand DJs in the country and surprise performances from international DJs. It’s like a school fair with a carnival twist! You can ride the roller coaster or party from one stage to another, or you can just watch the fire dancers and play around with the clowns, and not to forget the over flowing food and drinks! Everything you need to have an epic party was there and we surely did have a best night to remember!
SAMAL ISLAND
After 1 day of celebrating the colorful Kadayawan Festival and 2 nights of partying, we spent one of our free days at Samal Island. There are actually many popular places to go to, the best ones of course were either too far or too expensive, so we settled for what we can afford that will give as a unique adventure to remember.
HAGIMIT FALLS
We hired a mini Jeep for our Samal Island Adventure and spent 15 minutes inside a RORO and went straight to our first destination, the Hagimit Falls. For a 40 pesos entrance fee, we witnessed a small but stunning water fall. Aside from swimming in its cold water, our local guide also taught us how to get inside a small cave hidden behind the waterfall. If you’re claustrophobic then don’t try going in because the cave is literally small. It can only fit one body at a time and you have to exert an effort to squeeze yourself in and then swim under the waterfall for you to get out. We also did a lot of jumping at Hagimit Falls and it was a lot fun seeing some of my friends take the challenge even though they were really scared. Talk about peer pressure and adrenaline rush!
MAXIMA AQUA FUN
Right after Hagimit Falls we went to Maxima Aqua Fun to try their famous giant slide. A 40 meters long tarpaulin slide mounted on top of the hill going down straight to the sea. We thought it would be easy to just slide away, but it was really high and the only thing that will save you when you splash your way down to the sea would be your swimming skills and your choice of life vest or floater. There will be no one waiting for you at the sea to get you, you have to swim your way back to the ramp and climb up to the starting point if you want to slide again. It’s a buwis buhay, kaya mo dapat sarili mo experience, and if you want something extreme you shouldn’t miss this! The best part for me would be the time when you were about to take that big splash in the sea. Even though it’s a bit painful on the butt, the feeling of flying on air for a split second was incomparable!
EDEN NATURE PARK
On our last day in Davao, before our flight back to Manila, we went up hill and spend the whole morning for another extreme adventure at Eden Nature Park. We tested our limits and had an adrenaline pumping experience with their Skyrider (zipline), Skyswing and Skycycle. I thought I was brave enough in conquering my fear of heights with the skyrider and the 90ft high Skyswing, but when I hopped on the Skycycle and realized that I’d be biking for several minutes on a 400 meters line above a very high view, I got really scared. I can do a 100ft ride for seconds but for several minutes would be a very hard challenge for me. But still I pushed through, thanks to my supportive friend who’s cheering me up, I was able to ride the bike slowly and steadily without looking down. My hands were so cold and all I’m thinking of was, I can do this, just focus and pedal. Haha!
One of my office mate told me after watching our Kadayawan travel video that I’m lucky to have friends who have the same interest with each other. And indeed I’m beyond blessed by having these bunch at my side, because any place would be unforgettable if you have friends who make every moment for keeps!
Here’s how we enjoyed Kadayawan sa Davao 2015 in action, https://vimeo.com/141980976
Hope you all enjoy it! Until our next adventure. ♥
Our thirst for festival never stop! This year we checked the third spot on our list, Kadayawan sa Dabaw 2015!

LIHAM PARA SA HENERAL
Heneral Luna,
Humahanga,
“Joven” Diane
HELLO WORLD
Our little Rafael finally had his baptism last July 26, and it was a joy to see our families unite together to celebrate this memorable event. It was a simple celebration filled with laughs and good vibes. Rafael was a bit sick that day but he seem to enjoy everyone’s company and kept on smiling and giggling. His energy was so contagious that he made everyone laugh all at the same time. Indeed it was a blessed day. I’m sharing to all of you the happiness that we felt that day and hope you all enjoy it! ♥
Crushing on MARTIN GARRIX and his music! ♥♥♥
RAFAEL AT 5 MONTHS
It was Rafael’s first time to have his photo shoot at Picture Company and we were all so excited to witness this “first” moment of him. When the shoot started, Rafael was so curious about everything he touch and see inside the studio. His favorite pose was when he was laid down on the furry white bed, he’s to happy we didn’t have a hard time making him smile. But when he was placed inside the big shot glass, he was too focused balancing himself. The photographer was very talented with babies that she still captured Rafael smiling even though he keeps his straight face while looking at the glass where he was seated.
As much fun as we all had, I think Rafael enjoyed his first photo shoot with Picture Company. See how adorable he looks on these photos! ♥
Perks of work. I thought I’ll be more in love with James Reid, but I was wrong. I’m crushing on Nadine instead and I just can’t stop admiring her beauty, her skin tone, her dark hair, her style and her big smile. Gosh, she’s my peg right now! Sorry James, di naman kita ma-reach eh. Haha! :)
Thanks to Jonell Coral and sir Johnny delos Santos for the photos.
CARAMOAN: THE SUNNY SIDE
On our second day in Caramoan Mr. Sun finally heard our prayers and gave us a brighter day. Perfect for the whole day island hopping activity that was set for us. More than thankful of the weather, my friends and I were all excited to see the rest of Caramoan’s beautiful islands under the heat of the sun. We just can’t wait to take a dip in the clear water and make use of our floaters while basking together on the shore.
We visited 3 unique islands and the last one was our favorite!
SABITANG LAYA
Sabitang Laya is popular for having the most photogenic limestone rocks in Caramoan Islands. It also has a white beach where you can swim, but we didn’t gave it too much attention because the rocks were too beautiful to miss.
COTIVAS ISLAND
What I love about Cotivas is its untouched aura. Aside from the nipa huts and a few local vendors selling the cheapest fruits and fishes, you won’t find anything on the island aside from their small comfort room surrounded by wild colorful flowers. All you can do is relax on the beach or lie down on the sand bar. You can also stay in a very small island a few steps away from Cotiva’s shore that pops out during low tide.
MANLAWI SANDBAR
Like Cotivas Island, Manlawi Sandbar is untouched and simply beautiful as it is. We were lucky to be there during low tide because the whole sand bar was visible. It was instantly our favorite Island because of its fine powdery sand and clear water. I can’t count how many photos and videos we took in the sandbar because the whole place was too perfect in every angle. We just had to capture every moment while enjoying the sandbar like it was our own.
Caramoan is a far place to go to, but when you see it with your naked eye, you will realize that the Philippines is beyond blessed with hidden treasures it has to offer the world. Being able to experience Caramoan opened my heart for what is really beautiful - the untouched beaches and the people protecting it. No wonder why many Survivor episodes was taken in this place. You just have to see it for yourself, mend the long hours of travel and feel blessed! ♥
CARAMOAN: THE FARAWAY GEM
Caramoan is a gem too far to travel, but when you see it, every mile is worth it.
This year while everyone was flocking in Boracay for labor day weekend, my friends and I decided to break away from work and being stuck at home by visiting Caramoan. We spent an hour by plane, 5 hours by land, and another hour by boat. It was our longest ride together and we must say that even though our butts terribly ached, we had a great time catching up with each other.
The weather was off when we arrived in Caramoan. We rode the boat while it was pouring and the wind was too strong. But really, there is nothing that can stop a group who traveled more than 6 hours and brought colorful floaters just to see and enjoy the beauty of Caramoan. Yes, we are that eager, no backing out! Haha. Good thing the sun peeked when we arrived at Lahos and Matukad Island.
LAHOS ISLAND
Lahos Island has two connecting beaches, one side is where the boats dock and the other where most people swim. There also are limestone rock formations where you can take photos, just like what we did you can climb them but be careful enough because the rocks have sharp edges.
MATUKAD ISLAND
When you search for Caramoan on Google you will definitely see Matukad Island, as it is popular for its picturesque view. Matukad, aside from the lovely view has fine white sand that you’ll surely love. Although the water is not clear because of the gloomy weather, we still had fun swimming in for a few minutes before the rain started to pour. The highlight of our stay in Matukad was the rock climbing without harness and in bikini. Yep! We all did that just to see the famous Enchanted lagoon, and I must say you should do it too!
Buwis buhay rock climbing to the Enhanted lagoon.
On the way up to the Enchanted Lagoon you will witness Matukad Island’s famous view.
The Enchanted Lagoon
We didn’t have enough time to enjoy the beach because the rain keeps on pouring. But we are still lucky because we made it safe climbing up the rocks of Matukad Island, and witnessed the Enchanted Lagoon. The view was breathless up there. Caramoan is truly picturesque! If only Mr. Sun gave us a brighter day, I could have given more justice to how lovely Matukad and Lahos Islands were.
NEXT : Day 2 of our Caramoan adventure will be posted soon. I’m excited to let you see my favorite Island and how sunny it was! See you on my next blog. ♥
Laborday 2015, we traveled for more than 5 hours by sky, by land and by sea. It was the longest and painful travel we have ever been, but when we saw the beauty of Caramoan, every mile was worth it.
Our photo blog is coming pretty soon but for now hope you enjoy our travel video as much as we did in Caramoan! ♥
PS: for HD, watch it on Vimeo.
UP NORTH: BAGUIO 2015
When I was a kid I don’t remember mom and dad taking us to travel destinations aside from malls, theme parks and our happiest place on earth way back then, McDonald’s playpen, also known as the sea of colorful plastic balls. The only time that we get to experience real adventure is when my tita and ninong bring us to places like Boracay, Bicol, Ilo-ilo and many more beautiful provinces. The reason why mom and dad prefers to be home? It’s because they would rather save up for our studies than splurge on traveling. ♥
Now that I am working it is a dream for me to take mom and dad some place away from home. A simple getaway to pay back for their sacrifices and make them the happiest parents even for a weekend. And our destination, Baguio! Luckily my sisters were all available during the weekend, including Rafael who was traveling for the first time.
Seeing Baguio again gave us a throwback of our childhood memories. The cold breeze, the pine trees and the beautiful hillside view. Although many things have changed, more structures and the heavy traffic, Baguio will always be one of the cities I would love to come back to. We visited the classic tourist spots - Mines View Park and Camp John Hay.
As well as the newest item on most Baguio itinerary, the BenCab museum.
The best part of the trip would be seeing my whole family happy. It’s a joy to see their smiling faces. I thank God for this weekend in Baguio, and promised myself to do this again soon. Family time is always the best! ♥
4 days of wandering and exploring the beauty of Puerto Prinsesa, Palawan. From caving to spelunking to zip lining and island hopping. Puerto Prinsesa has more to offer. The beautiful beaches, the kind people, and their delicious food. I will definitely come back to this place soon! :)

PUERTO PRINSESA: EAT, SWIM, TRAVEL, REPEAT.
Aside from the island hopping and extreme adventures in Puerto Prinsesa, we found a way to take a closer look of the city on our own. This means hunting for the best, yet affordable restaurants that offers their famous delicacies. As well as going to some of their popular tourist attraction by commuting.
Where to Eat? If you are on a budget but wants a cozy place to eat, with a huge serving to satisfy your hunger, McCoy’s Pizza House is the place to be. Try their famous brick oven pizza, Tuscan pork chop and pasta. I assure you, aside from the big servings, everything is delicious! We ate there twice because it’s too good for a very affordable price!
Basket of chicken & mojos, Chicken Tuscan, Pork Tuscan and Pesto Pasta with mint leaves.
Looking for a relaxing place to eat under the trees? Neva’s Place is famous for it’s “one with nature” interior. When the tricycle driver drop us in front of Neva’s, we thought it’s a spa, but as we enter it was actually an Inn with a little restaurant in the middle of a garden. Most students visit this place because of their relaxing ambiance and affordable food. Their pizza is also baked on brick oven and a must try!
Neva’s walkway entrance, Neva’s Pizza Restaurant and the different table set-up.
Last on our list is the famous Kinabuchs Bar and Grill. It’s a bar and restaurant that opens only at night. They serve Palawan’s famous crocodile delicacies, tamilok and beers. No, we didn’t dare to eat tamilok but the crocodile sisig is now part of my favorite food list! There are many foreigners, tourists and locals who dine at Kinabuchs, sadly their staff isn’t enough to accommodate everyone, so the service is a bit slow. Good thing our tummies were not disappointed, the food was worth the wait. The kare-kare, crocodile sisig, calamares, and chicken wings were all delicious!
Where to go for a side trip? Do you still have hours to spend after your tour, but your INN doesn’t have a swimming pool? With just a tricycle ride, you can go to a nearby INN or Hotel, and walk-in for a quick dip in their swimming pool. For us, Hotel Centro won the nearest and most affordable price with a complimentary snack, for 350php per head. Hotel Centro is one of Palawan’s prominent hotels. Although their swimming area wasn’t too spacious, it is very clean and modernized. And the complimentary snack they serve us exceeded our expectation. A perfect combo of good food and good place.
On our last day in Palawan my sister and I only had a few hours to buy pasalubong and explore the rest city. And we decided to go to Baker’s Hill. We hired a tricycle for 300php and brought us up to the mansion on top of the hill. The whole place is free for everyone, you can walk in and enjoy taking photos with your favorite cartoon characters, or take out your inner child at heart and try their playground, and if you need refreshments they have a juice stand and a restaurant that will cater delicious food. Also, you can buy your pasalubong from their bakery, which is one of the famous place to buy hopia in Palawan.
I would say this is one of my most productive, most sulit, and hassle free tour as to date. Puerto Prinsesa has everything. From their beautiful islands to their delicious food and to the kindest people who’s love and respect for nature made Palawan’s beauty one of its kind.
I really admire the Palaweños’ discipline on not littering. From day 1 until our last day, I didn’t see any trash in the city, and this gave me hope that someday our love for our country will make us do the same thing, and make Philippines clean and green.
Thank you Palawan for this experience. I promise to come back soon! ♥
