It must be nice. It must be nice. Follow the money and see where it goes. It must be nice. It must be nice The emperor has no clothes. We won’t be invisible. We won’t be denied. Still. It must be nice, it must be nice to have Washington on your side.
Lin-Manuel Miranda
Though in reality it was Monroe, Venable, Burr, and Muhlenberg who looked into Hamilton’s actions concerning finances, essentially they were doing what Jefferson and Madison are beginning to do at this point in the musical. They saw that the finances did not line up the way that they should and decided to investigate - Monroe’s party, though, in reality, had a pretty good idea that they were accusing Hamilton of speculation. Jefferson’s group in the musical goes into accuse Hamilton without being sure of what they are accusing him of.
Sources: the following sources were used - the collected letters/writings of Alexander Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton the Revolution, Ron Chernow’s biography of Hamilton, The Intimate Life of Alexander Hamilton by Allan McLane Hamilton, Hamilton by Richard Syllia, and Charles Cerami’s book called Young Patriots. In addition, War of Two by John Sedgwick and Washington and Hamilton by Tony Williams were used throughout. The Old Union Church in the German Valley section of Washington Township (Morris County), #NewJersey. The church was built in 1774 to replace a log meetinghouse at the same location. The church was unusual in its construction as it had no steeple and no gable ends. It served German Lutheran and Dutch Reformed congregations until 1832 when the two sects built their own churches. The church was abandoned and by 1890 most of the roof had caved in and second floor stonework crumbled. In 2010, the remains were stabilized and the original entrance arch rebuilt using historical photographs and original stones from the site. The church is surrounded by a burial ground. Henry Melchior Muhlenberg D.D., the patriarch of the Lutheran Church in the United States, organized the congregation that met at the site. His eldest son, the Reverend Peter Gabriel Muhlenberg, also served as pastor there and served as a major general in the Continental Army. Next to the church is the Long Valley Historical Museum, which was the 1832 Union Schoolhouse. #nj #njhistory #SpreadTheHistory #historygirl #architecture #ruins #archi_ologie #oldhouselove #washingtontownshipnj #morriscountynj #blog #blogger #travelblog #travelblogger #church #lutheranchurch #germanvalley #longvalleynj #longvalley #dutchreformed #muhlenberg #beautiful_decay #thisisnj #jerseycollective #njspots #explorenj #igersnj #ushistory #americanhistory (at Long Valley, New Jersey)
