Mute laughed, which quickly turned into a coughing fit. Once he had calmed down, he pulled out his notebook and wrote a reply.

‘That would be quite the distraction, wouldn’t it? I walk up, coughing, out of breath, have to write down what I need help with. The person being duped is concerned for me, stays focused on my face and hands like I might keel over at any second. Then after all is said - or written - and done, we part ways. Say... you aren’t missing anything from your pockets, are you?’

The man furrowed his brows, before gently tapping the stranger on the arm and holding up a journal. Scrawled across a blank page in somewhat-neat handwriting was, "Explain to me what's going on?"

Mya’Dar raised an eyebrow at the page before examining the stranger for a moment and then shrugging. She wasn’t going to judge his communication methods. Nodding her head in the direction of the scuffle across from them, she tried to explain.

“Well, from what I’ve gathered the Dunmer in the dark coat was found with a ring in his pocket that belonged to the wife of the Nord with the black eye. The wife had said she’d lost it but the Dunmer claimed it was a gift and then the other Nord with the short hair made a joke about an affair and suddenly everyone was punching each other,” she smirked. “In all the chaos nobody seemed to notice that the ring that caused all the problems has gone missing. Oh well.”

The man frowned, before tapping the mer on the shoulder and holding up his journal. "Someone is on your side." He then frowned very deeply at the guard currently interrogating the stranger and gave the helmeted figure a look that merely read 'you should be ashamed.'

Dalamus was barely even listening to the guard, and gladly turned his attention towards the journal when it was presented. Upon reading the words and seeing the man’s frown at the guard, he almost chuckled. A mute person was to be his ally. Never saw that one coming.

Still, it lightened his mood enough to thank the man with a pat on his shoulder and a gesture towards the Bee and Barb once the guard gave up his asinine interrogation. “Want a drink?”

Mute attempted to clear his throat as he tapped the woman's shoulder. When she turned, he held up his journal, which read 'Excuse me, ma'am. I've been sent to give you a kiss, courtesy of the grey mages.' He offered her an apologetic smile and leaned forward, giving her a gentle kiss on the cheek.

Brande turned her head to look at whoever had tapped her shoulder, and furrowed her brows when she didn’t recognize him. She was about to ask who he was when he held up the journal, and she read what was written. The Imperial was about to protest, but stopped when she realized he was going for her cheek.

"Have a good day now," she said with a brief bow of her head.

Esemi walked up to Mute and smiled, holding out a brand new journal to him along with some charcoal to write with.

{Mute glanced over at the Bosmer and smiled broadly. He took both of the items from Esemi and scrawled 'Thank you' on one of the pages.}

{Mute glanced at the cup of tea on the nightstand in the room he had rented. He looked around, but saw no indication of who had left it. After a brief examination, the Nord brought it to his lips and took a careful sip. It was warm, soothing, and overall pleasant. As such, he also didn't keel over.

Thus, he decided whomever had left it was quite kind, and he finished it while reading a book.}

The Nord blinked and furrowed his brows questioningly at the Breton. He glanced around for a moment and then turned his attention back to her. He pulled out a journal and wrote "Though I'm flattered, I believe you might have me mistaken for someone else, lass."

If a book had been in her hands, then Brielle would have buried her face into its pages and march off. But she had no book, and was instead forced to drag a hand down her face before clapping it over her mouth.

The hand fell down to her side shortly after covering her mouth. After a few scanning over the words written in the journal she looked to the man’s face, lips twitching up into a hesitant smile, and shook her head.

 “I’m sorry, really. That wasn't supposed to…  Oh gods, I am sorry.”
