while i’m a firm believer in there is no such thing as a “good” politician, i am extremely happy to see mamdani win. i have not seen someone speak with that level of cadence since jfk. he knows what he wants and he is going to stop at nothing to try and make it happen. he sees what needs to be done in nyc and has hope that there will be brighter days ahead of his people. that’s the kind of politicians we need. not ones that promise to take away all of our problems, but ones that urge us to do our part in the government. there will be no change unless we start with us.

Okay, so just got home after seeing Anyone But You. My honest take.

I went into the movie expecting it to be HORRENDOUS, but I can admit when I’m wrong. It was actually a pretty solid movie overall. The side characters were so fucking funny (GaTa you have my whole ass heart) and they held their own against each other.

Sydney Sweeney can’t act. I’m sorry, she can’t. That was the consensus coming out of the theater from people who didn’t even know the drama. Her lines fell flat and half the time I couldn’t figure out what she was trying to convey. The other half she was making this face: :3

I genuinely believe that if this movie had had a better female lead, it would have been a smash hit. Sydney just fell flat. I will give her this, I haven’t seen her in anything else (I’m not watching Euphoria, you can’t make me dammit), but not everyone can do comedy. Comedy acting is super hard, and she’s one of the ones that can’t do it, and that’s okay. Maybe she’s better in other things, idk?

Glen was pretty good, but we know he can do comedy, so that’s not really a surprise. I think he fell a little flat in this movie, but most of acting is reacting, and most of his scenes were with Sydney….so.

Anyway, I would say go see it. Not for Sydney or Glen, but for the phenomenal supporting cast. They were the ones that had me laughing out loud most of the time. Glen had his moments, but I’m not lying when I say GaTa and Bryan Brown were the true stars of the movie imo

I'm in an argumentative mood. I keep seeing tiktoks about the ongoing kinktober vs morality debate and it's been driving me nuts.

Yes, we know some of the things on the list are gross and strange. No, that doesn't mean that it shouldn't be on there. What difference does sexual taboo have as compared to any other taboo? Is murder just as illegal to write about as rape? Gang we need to understand as a collective whole that fiction doesn't influence reality like we think it does. The correlation of people who write about incest = they condone incest, is completely incorrect and infactual. It's just as infactual as violent video games = violent people. And GOD forbid that consenting adults do consenting adult things.

Fiction is a place to explore the taboo, and yes there are things that might be gross and icky, but that doesn't mean that it shouldn't be allowed to be portrayed. I know we're going off the idea that people fetishize it, but I need to be so honest that people fetishize EVERYTHING. I'd rather be called a sexual freak than even consider the idea that removing certain things just because it makes you uncomfortable should be allowed. Because you know what that means? It can go from "Certain kinks make me uncomfortable. They need to go." And devolve to "Queer people make me uncomfortable. They need to go". "People of color make me uncomfortable. They need to go."

The internet isn't always about YOU and how YOU feel. Its EXPRESSION, and god forbid people are freaks.
