I'm not sure what kind of lizard this guy was but he was sitting on top of his tank mates when we arrived. They seemed relatively unfazed by the encounter. Not pictured: the blue-tongued skink hiding under this rock.

Finally got pictures of the mystery lizard! I’m pretty sure I was wrong when I called it a melanistic alligator lizard. Now that I finally got close, it’s clear that the shape isn’t right at all. This lizard was found basking near two similar lizards. Maybe a coast range fence lizard?
