it was nat’s idea. she had befriended okoye while visiting bucky in wakanda, and when she saw nakia and okoye together, they immediately reminded her of her other favorite power couple - sharon and maria.

so that was how they ended up here, maria and okoye watching each other quietly while sharon and nakia got to know each other, talking about interrogation tactics and fashion and sports. 

maria smiled at the bright look on sharon’s face, and okoye leaned forward a little bit, saying to her, “they’re quite endearing like this.”

“they really are,” maria replied. “they’ve turned us soft.”

“i find that i don’t have an issue with that.”

“me neither, general.”

“please, call me okoye.”

“only if you call me maria.”

1800s AU! Can’t help but ask

Hey, so this is a Nakoye fic and is a historical AU. We have some forbidden love, which is always something I find interesting, and action sequences (which I love to write).

Summary: Okoye of the J’Kuwali and Nakia of the River Tribe are in training with the Dora Milaje back when the Dora were preparing to become concubines to the King of Wakanda. They fall in love, but have differing views on duty and loyalty. Angst and drama ensues.

Also, I’m tired of historical AUs being set in western setting with majority European/White characters like the rest of us, Black and Indigenous people, didn’t exist at that time.
