The Floodlands during the Quiet Years. AKA some of the first ecosystems on my terraformed world of Namaka after local human extinction. Battered by terrible tropical cyclones and eternally inundated, life has begun to adapt to the cycles of storm and sun.
Sister to Pele and Hi'iaka, goddess of the blue oceans. She is married to ʻAukelenuiaʻīkū but in some tales he is said to be stolen by Pele, thus igniting the feud between the two. As Pele races across the Pacific Ocean she stops to rest, but her smoke tells her sister where she is and she chases her down ruthlessly. Nāmaka sends tidal waves and destruction toward Pele and her family, who often aid her in fighting Nāmaka . Depending on the tale Nāmaka is said to kill Pele victoriously, but sometimes Pele escapes to Mauna Loa with the constant struggle of water and fire reminding to this day of their eternal fight.
