The Fray Will Well Become Me

Hello, how is everyone? I just wanted to recommend this original, well-written, and just absolutely wonderful transformative work. It is based on the concept of Loki being Steve’s father. This results in Steve being quite self-aware and cunning and generally has more personality. His characterization is definitely not depicted as goody two-shoes Cap. The author, mugwort_and_myrrh, has a gift with words and her descriptions are mind-blowing and stunningly unique. The setting is very realistic and stays true to the realities of Brooklyn in the 1930’s as well as the war. It has four works in the series. The first work is Steve’s childhood up to the Valkyrie. The second story is on the idea that Steve is awake on the ice. That one in particular is heart-wrenching and beautiful. The third instalment in the series is the events of The Avengers, and it is very interesting to read with Steve’s confusion and Loki’s role and often unpredictable twists to canon. The fourth fic is updated weekly and is the events the Winter Soldier. The best way to describe this fic in the series is in one quote from the story..“ It’s 11pm on January 16th, T minus four days until Justin fuckin’ Hammer is gonna be sworn in as President of the United fuckin’ States, and Steve is crouched on a fire escape overlooking an alley, dumpsters below wafting up the stink of wet cardboard and mouldy cinnamon rolls, watching a couple idiots in ski masks trying to break into an electronics store.” I must insist everyone give this series a try even if it doesn’t sound like your cup of tea. I promise you will not regret it.

Ame suas perdas.

Certa vez perdi o homem da minha vida. Confesso, com todo o drama que exige uma boa fossa, que meu mundo caiu. Chorei vinte e quatro horas seguidas, levantei e fiz o que tinha que ser feito: seguir em frente. Claro que por algum tempo não fui feliz. Mas percebi, como numa tragada de inspiração, que o homem da minha vida era completamente substituível. De lá pra cá, perdi três homens da minha vida e continuo de pé – e sorrindo, se quer saber.

Perdi também um grande amigo. Ele não morreu para o mundo, mas pra mim, sim. Descobri uma traição daquelas que não se faz com melhores amigos. Encontrei muitos outros melhores amigos – alguns me traíram, alguns me consolaram, e todos foram embora. E outros sempre chegaram.

Noutro episódio triste da vida, perdi dois empregos – que tinha concomitantemente – na mesma semana. A crise veio e não havia mais como pagar aos colunistas. “Ok.” Chorei por umas horas, refiz o orçamento e me ajustei, novamente, ao caos da vida como pude. Encontrei outros três empregos nos meses seguintes. Alguns me fizeram feliz, outros não, e a todos perdi. E outros sempre chegaram.

Eis a ciranda da vida: em algum momento você vai perder. As pessoas vão embora, as crises vão chegar, nossos amigos vão nos trair. As perdas são essa realidade cruel que precisamos aceitar – e tirar proveito, sempre que possível.

O barato disso tudo é que, sempre que perdemos algo importante, temos a oportunidade de enxergar com uma clareza que só a tristeza proporciona as tantas outras coisas importantes que ainda temos. E de perceber, com a perspicácia que só as crises nos trazem, as outras tantas coisas importantes que chegarão. As perdas têm a indispensável função de nos fazer renascer. Cuidar do que ainda temos e lutar pelo que precisamos.

Não tenho piedade dos bons perdedores – mas aqueles que ganham sempre, coitados, não têm a chance de enxergarem-se tais quais são: humanos, errantes, passíveis de terríveis perdas e, sobretudo, capazes de reconstruir qualquer coisa que seja. E de deixar partir o que não lhes pertence.

Vencer é maravilhoso, especialmente para quem merece. Mas só na tristeza das perdas encontramos a delícia de renascer. Ame as suas vitórias, mas, sobretudo, as suas sábias perdas – elas sim nos apuram o paladar para o gosto bom de ganhar.
