Recommending this fic because it absolutely destroyed me. Spent so many hours reading this and it may as well be one of the best I've read. It's about married SteveBucky getting a divorce and it broke my heart. dw tho it's tagged Exes to Lovers and Getting Back Together! really enjoyed it so wanted to share :D

Bucky stares at the papers in front of him, not daring to look up.

In front of him read: No Fault Divorce Form. It was all filled out in his name, as plaintiff. Defendant; Steven Grant Rogers.

“So that’s it?” He has to confirm.

“Pretty much,” Natasha replies. “He can contest it. He can refuse it. You can also never show him. Doesn’t have to matter.”

Bucky nods. Doesn’t have to matter. Doesn’t have to matter that he went to his best friend and colleague to have divorce papers drawn out, all in proper legal jargon, because he’s been thinking about divorce for months and months and told no one.

Not even his husband.

Bucky and Steve have been together all their lives. Bucky thought they would have made it, that they were the other half of the statistics. He thought they would have found their way to each other in the end. Life is funny like that sometimes.

The Fray Will Well Become Me

Hello, how is everyone? I just wanted to recommend this original, well-written, and just absolutely wonderful transformative work. It is based on the concept of Loki being Steve’s father. This results in Steve being quite self-aware and cunning and generally has more personality. His characterization is definitely not depicted as goody two-shoes Cap. The author, mugwort_and_myrrh, has a gift with words and her descriptions are mind-blowing and stunningly unique. The setting is very realistic and stays true to the realities of Brooklyn in the 1930’s as well as the war. It has four works in the series. The first work is Steve’s childhood up to the Valkyrie. The second story is on the idea that Steve is awake on the ice. That one in particular is heart-wrenching and beautiful. The third instalment in the series is the events of The Avengers, and it is very interesting to read with Steve’s confusion and Loki’s role and often unpredictable twists to canon. The fourth fic is updated weekly and is the events the Winter Soldier. The best way to describe this fic in the series is in one quote from the story..“ It’s 11pm on January 16th, T minus four days until Justin fuckin’ Hammer is gonna be sworn in as President of the United fuckin’ States, and Steve is crouched on a fire escape overlooking an alley, dumpsters below wafting up the stink of wet cardboard and mouldy cinnamon rolls, watching a couple idiots in ski masks trying to break into an electronics store.” I must insist everyone give this series a try even if it doesn’t sound like your cup of tea. I promise you will not regret it.

hi! I’d just like to submit a rec,  Down The Chasm by Sheepgirl3. It’s a ‘Steve goes back to find Buckys body after he falls’ fic, and it’s a really good hurt/comfort that has a really sweet ending
