"When I was teenager, I began getting tinea versicolor, which was very embarrassing and annoying to get rid of. When looking for a cure, I found very few resources, so I'm sharing my remedy in hopes of helping someone else. Here are the steps and tools that ended up helping me the quickest.
· Tea tree oil - I made a small spray bottle with this, witch hazel, and other essential oils and sprayed it on my trouble areas after showering. This aids in killing bacteria and fungi in the skin.
· Exfoliation/Coconut Oil - Each shower, I would apply coconut oil and use exfoliating gloves to remove dead skin. The coconut oil is also essential in fighting bacteria and fungi.
· Tanning Bed - although Tinea can worsen with heat, I found that the discoloration faded the fastest when going to the tanning bed two to three times a week. This is when I began to see instant results. For some reason tanning in the sun did not work, and seemed to only worsen the spots. Be sure to shower after tanning and utilize the other steps, especially exfoliating!
· Staying Dry - If you get tinea around your shoulders, back, and chest, use plenty antiperspirant deodorant and baby powder to stay dry. My spots tended to come during the summer when I would sweat, especially around my bra area.
I used to get Tinea Versicolor every summer. Last year (2016) I began implementing these steps. My spots were unnoticeable within a month of going to the tanning bed and this year I did not get any spots at all! I tanned a couple weeks around spring and continued using the oils. Its Fall now and I can't believe I made it through summer without this problem. I really hope whoever is looking for an answer finds this post and is able to utilize it!"
