Small beautiful moments that make me so so so grateful: sunsets at the cottage, taking a ferry to Newfoundland, laughing for hours on a road trip with my friends, jumping off the back of the jet boat, graduating my QL2 dive course with my friends. There is beauty in each day.
These Navy Divers were tied by the Godfather of fly tying videos Tim Flagler of Tightline Production! Check out the interview I did with him at @theflyfishingshow in Atlanta this past weekend. Some people I’m going to miss
I love my job. I’m so happy that I was brave enough to leave my ‘safe, practical’ job as a Registered Nurse to pursue being a Navy Diver. My life is full of adventure and laughs and unknowns and it is so so exciting. Make your own path and pursue your own dreams, not your parents.
Grateful for being able to spend the last 5 weeks running around this unit, getting my ass kicked and trying to be a Navy diver. Things to remember: the feeling of bliss cruising on the rhib, wetsuits on, fins in hand, Halifax skyline in view, waiting to be told to get out of the fucking boat and swim back. Hurcules swims at 1 in the morning climbing rusty ladders, high water entries, swallowing so much salt water you thought you might puke, flashlights blinding us as they made sure no one was drowning. Sun setting over Halifax setting up our kit as rap music blares from the speaker. “Diver Mason ready for sups checks dive SUP”. “Get hot boys”. Feeling like one of the boys. The absolute exhaustion after PT, diving all day, carrying tanks, getting cocked, night dives and getting cocked again at midnight. And the excitement at knowing I get to do it all again the next day.
Respect your cave diving instructor ! He knows places where nobody will find you.
