I close my eyes and listen for my heartbeat. It is strong but steady. I listen for his breathing and when I hear it like a ripple over water my heart skips. I exhale steadily into the pipe and as my fingers move over the holes I imagine they are his fingers on my arms, trailing down my trunk, my hips, my legs. When I open my eyes to look at him I know he is imagining it, too.

He rests the lyre against his knee and joins its notes to mine. Though we sit apart I can feel the vibration of the strings as heat spreading through me. He raises his voice in song, a hymn of praise, and I can feel the breath of his singing, the movement of his lips all around me. My melody quickens, and his harmony keeps time, becomes richer, more complex, even as my playing turns frenzied, erratic, but he ties my notes together, he makes it into music. A long, piercing vibrato, the rush of a vibrant glissando, and we are falling apart in each other's Song. Sound becomes the touch of calloused fingers around my wrists, the colour of his flush, the sweet taste of his seed, the scent of my desire.

But Maitimo did not care about the story: he had long since been distracted by Findekáno’s hand on his chin, his arm curled around his back, and if he interrupted the sweet cadence of Findekáno’s voice with a few ticklish caresses, it was well worth his surprised laughter as Maitimo snuggled closer to the gentle, comforting warmth of his melotorno's fëa.

I cannot thank @navyinks enough for this INCREDIBLE charity commission for COVID relief in India, it’s everything I dreamed of and more: specifically, House of the Wing, No Bad Vibes, Navyinks draws the cutest kids and I wanted to see little Eärendil in that style so much <333 And it was better than I could have imagined.

So, I have a couple other people that I need to thank, because a few of my friends actually got together and surprised me by sending me the money to commission this when I was having a very difficult time. @stormxpadme, @admirablemonster, @sianascera, and Moietywhodoesn’thaveatumblr, you guys are such true and wonderful friends, and I’m immensely grateful and humbled to have you in my life. Love you so much!

Thanks to the initial inspiration of @ibrithir-was-here‘s artist-styles work, and a boost from seeing @tylwythwaffles‘s take, I decided to try my hand at this challenge! Except it turned from “copy an artist’s style” to “draw another’s character design in your style” ... I did try to use their styles though, I swear! ^^;;;

Massive props to those of y’all who have done this challenge XDD I didn’t know it could be this hard to break out of your own style loll I hope I was able to do these ones justice, at least!

First Panel -- @capriciousfanartist’s design

Me: Ahh yeess I love drawing Elrond in white robes! definitely not because my design is very similar to yours loll Great minds think alike! :DDD

Ah, but really, I find your designs to be very elegant and soothing! They just ... flow, I don’t know how else to say it ^^;; But Elrond! In those flowing white robes!! loll don’t mind me, I just really enjoy drawing long robes and fabrics hahaa

Second Panel -- @silmaspens’ design

Me: Yaaayy time for one of my fave Tolkien artists!! Time to look for Maedros’ design! ... *scrolls through your blog* ... *scrolls some more* ... Hmmm I see Maedros has been given an extensive wardrobe! Which design should I use? The one with the ivory cloak or the black robes or the blue robes or the metal hand or the silver embroidery or

Jokes aside, I absolutely love your art and especially your designs!! The anatomy! The embroidery! The colours!! Please bestow upon me some of your clothing-design powerrrr T_T <333

Third Panel -- @navyinks’ design

Me: *stares at the lovely kidnap fam comic you drew* Ah perfect, I have both Maedros and Elrond’s designs in one panel! ... But what’s Maedros’ eye-colour? ... *remembers that you drew up a character design sheet for everyone* ... Oh right, lemme go check that!

Yeah, so I just find it so cool that you drew up design sheets XDD And super helpful too! and your designs are some of the most interesting and unique I’ve seen so far!! They’re so colourful and full of patterned fabric, and those crowns! I love them!! :DDD

Now, on to the topic of what’s going on in these panels, I imagine that it’s set during Morgoth’s attack on Amon Ereb (because I definitely remember reading somewhere that the fortress was attacked and the Fëanorians fled south or went to the Isle of Balar)! For the purposes of this scene, Elrond was separated from the main group and trapped within the fortress, keeping to the open corridors and balustrades for air. Maedros went to look for him and, as you can see, found him! Or perhaps they found each other XDD
