MARK LEE :
you received 1 new voice message: today, 2:30am.
you open your voicemail and see that mark had left you one. you were a little confused and a bit worried but you put it on speaker as it played. all you could hear was some loud music blasting and marks voice over the top of it, his words slurred. you shake your head, ‘oh god.. i can only imagine what this is going to be.’
“i can’t believe you didn’t pick up ynnie.. missed you so much today, you know? i don’t know, there’s something about the vibe when you’re not here like it’s just not as lively as it usually is. maybe that’s just me. haha. um- uh- i really don’t know what to say because i expected you to pick up but i do realise it’s late so i apologise about that, i lost track of time there haha.. well, me and the boys went out drinking and.. maybe i had a little more than i expected but like, i wanted to relax, you know? wind down a bit. i was going to say something but i forgot-“ he got cut off by another males voice, sounded like jeno, “he was going to admit he likes you~” and then you heard a loud slap. “jeno!!” mark whined. “god anyway, yes i was going to confess to you. i just.. these past couple of months, they’ve been great you know, we’ve been hanging out a lot more and personally i feel we’re growing to be more than friends hahaha.. i really do like you, no scratch that, i think i love you. i like.. love you more than anyone else i’ve ever done before in my life. it’s crazy- haha- you know when you’re in love? you just feel so different like a changed man.. well maybe not a changed man but you know what i mean, right? i just feel like ive become a better person with you by my side and i really-“ dial tone.
and the voicemail was over. you just chuckled to yourself, fanning your cheeks as you felt yourself grinning just a little too much at his cute confession. you’ll text him about it shortly - for now, you need to calm down your racing heart.
HUANG RENJUN :
you received 2 new voice messages: today, 1:27am.
“mmmm… ynnie? ah, you didn’t pick up. it’s okay, i’ll leave you a voicemail. so.. um, it was really nice seeing you before! i’m so sad you had to leave so early though, we were just getting so settled with one another and the others stopped teasing me for a bit.. they’re back to it now because i look like a ‘kicked puppy’ apparently without you here. maybe i feel that way because i miss you.. i miss your company already please come back!~ anyway what i wanted to call about was.. godddd, why are you so stupid? huh? so so stupid and so blind to not see what i was trying to do with you. i thought you’d be able to but you’re so oblivious all the time.. i bet you’re like, huh? with that cute tone of yours and the way you tilt your head.. ahh..~ what i mean is, that.. that i’m so in love with you. with everything about you. from your perfect tone of voice, your beautiful eyes that shine when you see something that you like, the way you look up at me, the way you dress, your personality.. it’s so hard not to fall for someone as perfect as you..”
next voicemail.
“shit i got cut off- but anyway, you know like.. i hope you reciprocate my feelings but- but if you don’t it’s okay, we can just pretend like this never happened and go back to the way things were. i don’t want to make you uncomfortable but i fear i might’ve and oh god— hold on, jisung doesn’t look so good.”
LEE JENO :
LEE HAECHAN :
haechan's voice was the only thing ringing through your ears at this moment in time, the dimly lit room and on goers to the party soon fading into the background. he was out of his mind- flushed cheeks, unfocused eyes and a lazy grin that didn't quite reach his eyes.
"you live in my head and my heart, can't you see that?" his words are slurred but the desperation in his voice was unmistakable. your breath caught in your throat, "haechan, you're drunk." you claim.
he scoffed and ran a frustrated hand through already messy hair, "yeah? so what. doesn't make it any less true." his gaze locked onto yours, raw and pleading. "you're always here." he tapped his temple. "and here," his hand clutched at his chest. "i don't know how to make you see it."
the weight of his confession pressed between you, heavier than the alcohol in his system. what were you supposed to say?
NA JAEMIN :
ZHONG CHENLE :
you received one new voice message, today at 7:00pm .
"you know.. you should’ve said it earlier, idiot. i love you, can’t you see? i can’t believe you waited until you got out of my car to say that just so you could run off. you’re lucky you’re cute. meet me tomorrow at the restaurant, ‘kay? you know which one i’m on about and dress nicely. i’ll treat you like you deserve alright.” he says to you on the other line. you couldn’t help but fight back a small smile coming onto your lips, of course chenle would say that.
PARK JISUNG :
you and jisung had spent the whole day together, gaming and having a laugh, shared cuddles and looks that were definitely more than platonic. everyone around you guys had told you that there’s no way you’re both just friends, there’s some tension and you didn’t realise that until now. when you look up at jisung after cuddling on his chest, you notice him focusing his gaze on the tv, biting back a smile as he can sense your eyes on him. your heart jumps in your chest. shit. was it just the alcohol you both had drunk 2 hours ago or was it your feelings? maybe the second option. for sure.
“hey, yn, can i say something to you?” jisung mumbled as he finally looked down at you, you just hum in response. he lets out a deep sigh and bites his lip, “um.. well, i’m head over heels for you. you deserve to know and im sorry i’m only telling you this now. i can’t hide it anymore, i really can’t do it. i love you. a lot. and i-“ you didn’t let him finish, pressing a hard kiss to his lips as he melts into it with a groan.
i cant stop making these fake texts omg theyre so fun. (made haechan and jaehyun’s ver so check them out!)

You feel like you’re drowning, suffocating under the continuous added layers of perfume and hairspray. Voices unable to match with their owners, bouncing around different conversations and vibrating against the high ceilings of the hub.
The only thing that has been grounding you is the hands that keep you securely in the middle, protectively barricading you within their familiarity. Soothing you. But you feel that Yunjin is unable to hide her excitement as her focus has been zig zagging between you and the atmosphere, falling in love with its entirety.
It’s been motivating, to see her so passionate and all fired up, it drove you to attend all the lecture classes that Yunjin practically pleaded with her eyes to attend. Introductory lectures on college experience seminars. Every guest speaker. An endless pile of brochures. Hauls of freebies and trips to the onsite bookshop had done anything but slow her down.
Yunjin’s eyes had rounded, the sparkle doubling as she engaged in conversation with equally interested attendees next to her.
“I have to ask him,” Yunjin’s excitement has made its way into her voice, her usual smooth tone raised a little in joy and her attention on a particular professor’s area of expertise. She gives your arm a last squeeze, a quick check in with Chaewon before she approaches the professor with bumbling tension.
“I’ve never seen that girl so excited,” Chaewon snorts. You nod in agreement.
Chaewon, nowhere near as excited to attend the amount of lectures as Yunjin but attending anyway. She, more or less, has been there to be your moral support.
With a slight push against a large broad back that almost tramples you both, Chaewon concedes with both arms raised, her grasp becoming stronger, “Let’s get a coffee.”
Your sigh of relief is all Chaewon needs for permission, coming behind Yunjin and her lively mannerisms to intercept her growing bag of tertiary consumerism, the older girl securing it over her shoulder. Yunjin casts a quick look at the thief before continuing her conversation, her joy no longer contained by any material restrictions.
The walk to the coffee stop is shorter than you thought, but the volume decreases so significantly that your ears feel like they’re ringing. The quiet is welcomed by your relaxed smile and the creamy hot chocolate that Chaewon orders for you.
While Chaewon pours her packet of extra sugar over her large caramel latte with a chocolate swirl, your eyes scan the different rooms of the first floor. Doors each marked differently. Study rooms numbered 1-3, stray music rooms and an island of fancy seats with a charging dock.
One room though, piques your interest, “Hey-”
Chaewon’s attention is on you in an instant, her tongue tucked into the crease of her lip in anticipation, “Yeah?”
She sips at her latte, eyes closing briefly at how good the taste is before she tries to follow your line of vision.
“Dance room,” You smile at the girl in front of you. Knowing her next actions as if you wrote her in your journal pages.
Chaewon’s eyebrows skyrocket upwards in intrigue, “Yeah?”
You nod, your smile growing even wider. Chaewon stands, “Well, it can’t hurt to check out the competition…”
Her short hair bobs as she jogs to the doors of the dance room, immediately finding a small gap in the paper barrier of privacy. You follow after her, feeling like little girls on sugar as your hands find a home on her shoulders using her as leverage to tip toe over her. .
“Woah,” You murmur your appreciation, drinking in the large mirror and the clean surface floors. The different coloured lights are so different to the ones at your high school. Chaewon, although less than impressed, is still raving.
“Fuck I could kill for that space,” Chaewon groans. You chuckle, knowing that Chaewon complains about the lack of space in her own studio at least twice a week, “You need to date someone in the dance major purely so I can use this room.”
Your lips curl, “Mmm, maybe.”
“Mmm, maybe,” Chaewon teases, “You barely even try to play along with me. He’s on your brain a lot, huh?”
If the warmth blooming on your cheeks and spreading across your chest is any indication, shes right. And she knows it.
“Excuse me?” The voice that interrupts you is both unfamiliar and the baritone rattles your gut. You turn around, hoping the residue of embarrassment has completely rid itself from your face. A tall figure stands a reasonable distance from your table, but close enough for curiosity to muddle with your brain. He’s handsome, an envy-inducing pretty face and a disarming gaze that is made obvious when his eyes jump between the two of you.
You realise that you’re the only one that’s walking up to him a little too late, the alarm on your face laughable and Chaewon’s attempt to rein it in is completely ruined by her shaking shoulders and uncontrolled pig snorts. You grit your teeth, facing the boy meekly.
He swallows, “Sorry, I didn’t mean to- you know. You dance?”
“I don’t,” Your hand falling to your chest, before referring to Chaewon with a polite hand instead of a rude finger like she deserves, “She does though.”
Chaewon waves, her smile unaffected by your thoughts of displeasure and anxiety.
“Oh,” The boy coughs, “Sorry, I just- honestly I saw this shifty dude around your bags so I came here…”
You turn to look in the direction he's looking, making a small note of a suspicious figure hanging around the hub, checking tables and every corner available. When you turn, your expression is mildly thankful, choosing to accept the kind concern of the guy in front of you.
“Oh, thanks,” Casting a quick glance back at the possible offender, you smile back at the incredibly handsome boy in front of you, “Do you go to university here?”
The boy shakes his head, “I’m thinking about it though. I’m a little stuck on choices at the moment but my older brother goes here so it’s always going to be an option….”
“Really? That’s cool. What’s his major?”
His smirk is completely involuntary, “Dance.”
“Ohhh,” You muse, “That’s why.”
His laugh is melodic and smooth, “That’s why.”
“I’m Y/N by the way,” You greet, loving the confidence that has settled into you as you greet someone new. Finding it as pleasant as it is rare. There’s something about people like him that brings something out in you.
The boy bites his lip slightly, “Hyunjin.”
You really wish you didn’t get so distracted so easily. If it hadn't been for the gasp you let out and the suspicious guy, then his name wouldn't have been stolen so sharply. Only possibilities are left over. You thought that maybe his name ended in 'Jin'...or it could have been '-Chin'. '-Shin-' was an option as well.
You don’t know.
And if it wasn't for the way you clutched at his wrist, he would've noticed you had difficulty getting his name. He would've noticed that the shifty guy had made an attempt to steal from a table, leaving only a commotion as he flees. He would've noticed it all, if he had not been captured by you, "Oh my god I just saw him steal.'
Chaewon, though, will remember that moment for a lifetime. Her baby growing up and rizzing every boy in her bubble.
Hyunjin's lip trembles at an attempt to keep his temptation at bay. He so badly wants to say something like 'you owe me' like the cool guys do in all those movies.
But he doesn’t want to be creepy.
Or too much.
Or fucking cringe.
So he withholds, instead he lets himself get suckered in by the fact you're still touching him. Your hold on him isn't necessarily flirty but he's smitten regardless. He thinks he may even adore you at this point, because he can tell you don’t even know you’ve got him like this. Too cute. Too sweet. Angelic.
Then, the worst thing that could ever happen happens, '-Jinnie.'
Hyunjin almost curses. Thoughts of homicide running amok as his older brother, who's own smile has grown at the sight of a pretty girl having a literal hold on his younger brother. Hyunjin himself wants to sigh. The utter torture he's going to have to endure from the moment he hops into the lonely car all the way into next month already traumatises him enough to create distance between you both.
“Uh I gotta go,” Hyunjin murmurs, insanely fed up already, “Nice meeting you.”
“You too, wait wait-“ You’re so sweet about it, and his heart flutters as you hurry to place one of the little free marshmallows on his palm, “Thanks for saving our bags, Jinnie.”
If Hyunjin was stronger or more honest, he would've admitted he didn't like marshmallows all that much. But you bet his ass ate it because you offered so sweetly, so heartwarmingly - he ate that marshmallow you gave him with the biggest grin on his face. His brother's incessant and irritating teasing powerless against his good mood.
Jinnie, you called him Jinnie.
When the handsome boy leaves, you turn around, pout on your face because your cup is not as warm as before and Chaewon is still in need for a stern talking to after the shit she just pulled.
However, you're pleasantly surprised by the appearance of Yunjin again that the conversation is forgotten as soon as it was remembered. Wanting to seek her validation and her comfort, you start to let out a mumble of a whine-
“He was cute,” Yunjin sings.
Your face falls into deadpan, both girls giggling and rolling their eyes at your expense. You send a quick smack to Chaewon’s arm who rubs the slight sting away.
“We get it,” Chaewon smirks, “You already have a boy at home to rizz up…”
Oh my god, seriously?
Chaewon laughs at your flustered and bumbling state, stuttering all over the place. You’re seriously so cute.
“What did the professor say?” You turn to Yunjin who has only resorted to smiling at you fondly, her look almost motherly before your question resonates and has her bumbling back to the girl she was before, almost hopping as she explains the theories that the professor had either proven or disproven.
She continues her story, her arm locked in yours as she explains wholeheartedly. Her voice volume is less passionate as the train station nears, her energy depleting. The urge to snooze becoming more and more appealing.
The three of you pile on the snacks, Yunjin picking out an assortment of fresh fruit, Chaewon stocking up on chips, cheese and crackers with a whole jar of pickled relish and then finally you with a block of chocolate and sparkling juice.
Chaewon lets out a small noise of amusement, “We’re so very grown up.”
You pay separately, meeting up in the middle to use the paper bag that Chaewon brought. The air is noticeably more crisp as you exit the train station supermarket, finding warmth in the overhead headphones that you had decided to bring along with you. A few stragglers of equally exhausted people leave the clean train quiet, preferring the comfort of their own thoughts and relying on their music or readings to entertain them. The three of you are comfortable, Yunjin opting to cuddle into Chaewon and leaving you to listen to your playlist by yourself to your heart's content.
The trip takes three hours, yet it feels like only one.
When the train pours into the familiar environment, the glittery horizon of an orange blue sea and buildings a lot smaller than the skyscrapers that had loomed over you all day. It’s comforting, paired with the smooth R&B tunes playing in your ears.
Home.
It instantly has your shoulders relaxing, making you realise just how tense you have been all day. It’s indescribable, how good home feels to you. How good home is for you. A notification pulls you away from the view and you check it habitually.
How was it?
A simple message and it sends you into an emotional overload. It doesn’t necessarily mean anything - a question that your Mum could have sent you. But it’s different because it’s from him.
“What’s got you so happy?” Chaewon’s voice is slightly husky from her admittedly better than expected nap.
You turn the phone screen toward her, watching as her eyes flick across the message. The smile on her face deepens as she sees how affected you are.
“Reply to him,” Chaewon urges, then she closes her eyes jokingly, “Here, I won’t even look. I’m not here.”
The narrowing of your eyes is half hearted, already raising your phone closer to you, potential branches of where your conversation leads to is racing through your head and has you obsessing over the little details.
“Dreamy,, he likes you just….tell him how your day was,” Chaewon advises, “Be honest about it. He’ll reply to anything you say, trust me, you could say you sand your mermaid tail scales down and he’ll find a way to reply.”
You take her advice appreciatively, amusement and nerves in your thumbs. You begin with the good things before letting your thoughts become more and more honest as his replies continue with so much interest you want to chastise yourself by how worried you were. You even mention Jinnie. Which gets you a little weird conversation you’re trying not to be so delusional over.
Oh.
Was he hot?
Honestly, he was a little. Very pretty.
Hmm. Did he give you his number?
No
Did you? Give him your number?
No..
I didn’t haha
Good girl x
Good. Girl. Good girl. He said ‘good girl.’ With an ‘X’. An ‘x’ was a kiss. That was something, right? Right? He was flirting just now, right?
Okay, i’ve gtg now. Am I seeing you tomorrow?
If you want to.
I do
You bite your lip in anticipation, your fingers dancing across the screen boldly. It’s nerve wracking.
Jaemin insisted that you go to bed with him, but he finally went to sleep after you promised him you won't take too much time.
That was a lie, because you knew you'd end up staying awake all night. You were used to it, your sleep schedule was pretty messed up already. There was way too much pressure going on at work, and you had only a few hours at hand a presentation to prepare.
You got up at about 11:45 p.m. from your desk and stretched a little. Behind you, Jaemin was fast asleep on the bed.
You tiptoed out of the bedroom as softly as you could and went to the kitchen to get yourself a glass of water. After you were done, you washed the glass in the sink and put it back in its shelf, and that's when you felt two hands snaking around your waist.
You felt your heart rate increase when a familiar voice whispered in your ear, "I thought you weren't gonna take too much time."
You let out a sigh of relief when the familiar scent of the vanilla body wash your husband uses surrounded you, and you turned around, facing Jaemin- frowning, his eyes half lidded and sleepy, hair sticking out in all directions.
"God, you scared the shit out of me." You said, putting a hand on your chest to calm yourself down.
"You need to sleep." Jaemin said, leaning forward and almost falling asleep on your shoulder.
"I can't, Jaem. I need to finish my work." You said, caressing the back of Jaemin's head. He groaned in protest, and you sighed. He really did act like a child sometimes.
"Come on, get up baby, you're too heavy for me to carry." You said and Jaemin shook his head which was still on your shoulder, and moments later you felt yourself being lifted up as if you were a sack of potatoes.
"Jaemin!" You exclaimed, but he walk to your shared bedroom and put you on the bed, taking his place beside you and covering you with the blanket. You felt him trap you in his arms as you instinctively shuffled closer to him, and he softly caressed your head, pressing a light kiss to your forehead. "Sleep, hm?"
And almost like a command, sleep immediately came over to you when you wrapped your arms around him and heard his voice. All thoughts of work and stress being pushed away from your mind.
And Jaemin's embrace itself felt like a comforting kiss to your lips.
this was short and quick, lol I just felt very lonely and this was comforting to write.

Your day hadn’t been great. If you thought about it, it’s been a while since you’d had a good day. Your mind often liked to play tricks on you, flood every waking hour with insecurities and foolish thoughts. It created the same old pit in your heart it always did. You were a burden. A bothersome person unworthy of anything you possessed in life. Especially unworthy of him.
This day had been particularly harsh on you. Everything seemed to go as wrong as they possibly could at any given moment. And to make things worse, you’d been given a project last minute which needed to be finished by the next day. Hence being the last person left in the office at 11pm. You knew your work never treated you very well. They took advantage of you and hardly respected or appreciated you in return. But your job was the one thing that made you feel some sort of worth. You’d had an ultimate fear that without the job, without some form of reward for the little motivation you’d had recently, you’d lose any motivation you had left. And in turn you’d lose him too.
As you entered your shared apartment and kicked off your shoes, Donghyuck immediately shot up from his position on the couch. His brow furrowed immediately at the sight of you. You were beautiful to him, you’d always been, but the bags under your eyes and your slightly sunken in cheeks were plenty means for concern. He’d noticed small patterns in you over the years he’d known you. He could tell when things were slowly beginning to get bad again, when your meals became smaller and less frequent, and your smile became faker. He knew these were the times he had to stay by your side the most, and now was no exception.
“Y/N?” You looked up from the floor at the sound of his voice, and your heart sunk as you realised he’d stayed up to wait for you. He deserved rest and he wasn’t getting it because of you.
Trying to suppress the guilty tears threatening to fall, you put on a small smile, which Donghyuck can see doesn’t quite reach your eyes.
“Hey Hyuck. You really shouldn’t have waited for me, it’s really late.” He pouted slightly at your statement, which warmed your heart a little.
“That’s exactly why I should’ve stayed up. You need cuddles from your adoring boyfriend after a long day working late.” He stood up from his position on the couch, walking over to you and pulling you into his arms. The tears threatened to fall, but you tried to suppress them once more. You didn’t want to ruin Donghyuck’s affectionate mood with your emotional state.
He pulled you beside him on the couch, leaning against the armrest and pulling you tightly against his chest. “I missed you today,” he mumbled softly into your hair, pressing gentle kisses to the crown of your head.
You hummed in reply, closing your eyes as Donghyuck softly drew shapes on your forearm with the pads of his fingers. You tried to clear your mind, focusing on the rise and fall of his chest beneath you.
Donghyuck chewed on the inside of his cheek, contemplating whether now was the right time to talk to you or not. He wasn’t going to let you suppress all your thoughts and emotions for this long, it wasn’t healthy and he was worried about you. But he was worried that he would ruin the first chance you’ve had to relax in a long time.
His concern won the battle as he gently brushed his thumb against your cheek, prompting you to open your eyes and look at him. He helped the two of you sit up, interlocking one of his hands with yours, the other resting gently on your knee.
“Y/N,” he started, unsure of the best way to start. “Are you doing okay? I’m worried about you.”
Your heart sunk, this was the last conversation you were expecting that night. You’d thought you’d done a better job of hiding it, trying your hardest not to worry him anymore than he needed to. A tear slipped down your cheek, both shocked and emotional at his sudden question and the overwhelming thoughts filling your brain, and you swipe it away quickly.
He grabs your hand gently, lowering it to your lap. “See what I mean? You’re suppressing it, you’re hiding it from me. I-I just want you to tell me what’s going on in that pretty little head of yours so I can help you.” His voice wavered slightly, almost pleading you to let him help you. His heart was shattering seeing you like this, and he was desperate to do whatever it took to take some of your pain away.
You let the tears fall, unable to hold them back any longer as Donghyuck gently swiped them away. “I don’t know what’s going on, but you don’t have to worry. It’s something I can easily fix on my own.”
His heart broke even more at your response. “Sweetheart, please, let me help you. I’m here for you, always. You’ve been skipping meals and sleeping late and bottling up your emotions. You don’t have to deal with this all your own.”
Sobs racked your body at his words, and you slumped against him, burying your head in his chest as he held you tightly to him. “I- I’m just sick of all the thoughts constantly going through my head. Stupid insecurities that are making me push people away, and too many emotions for me to sort out all at once. I just want to be able to appreciate what I have without being scared I’m going to lose it all at a moments notice. I want to feel like I’m good enough for you instead of feeling guilty you have to put up with someone like me.”
Donghyuck gently ran his fingers through your hair as you spoke, listening intently to every word you were saying. “Sweetheart, you never have to feel that way around me. You’re perfect. Your problems are never burdens, I want to listen so you don’t have to ever feel that way. I want to be the person you feel comfortable sharing stuff like this with so the weight you have on your shoulders is a little bit lighter.”
You sniffled lightly, looking up at him. “I love you, Hyuck. I’m sorry for acting like this.”
He frowned playfully at you. “Nope. No unnecessary apologies allowed here. I will accept kisses, though.”
You giggled softly, pressing a chaste kiss to his lips. He smiled adoringly at you. “I love you Y/N. Now, our plan of action is a delicious dinner cooked by your loving boyfriend, cooked quick enough to ensure you’ve washed up and are sleeping by 1am. You’ve worked so hard, and you need your rest. I’m so proud of you.” He pressed another kiss to your lips, a longer one this time, before setting off to the kitchen to make your favourite meal.
And you knew, despite your worries and your doubts, Donghyuck was going to be by your side forever.

Mark was the first friend you’d ever had.
You knew what friendship meant because you knew him. You knew what it meant for your heart to break just because someone else’s was breaking because you knew him.
You knew what it meant for someone to say they’d do anything for you and mean it because you knew Mark.
Even though you loved each one of the boys, some part of you had continued to see everything as the two of you against the world. And you never questioned why.
Mark was also your first love.
You were fourteen, and Mark came home and told you a girl had asked him out in school and he’d said yes.
You remembered crying yourself to sleep that night.
You told yourself you’d move on in no time, but then at sixteen, you started dating some guy from school, and your heart broke a little yet again when Mark looked genuinely happy for you.
Soon, you’d learned to push your feelings for him inside and bury them into a corner of your brain you knew you’d never visit again. Mark was family, and that mattered a lot more to you than your stupid juvenile feelings.
And here you were, over ten years later, at twenty seven, with the ache in your heart long gone and forgotten.
Mark was your family, your home away from home.
***
It was a Monday, and you were lying on Mark’s couch playing video games on your phone. – It’s what you did when you were bored, the fact that Mark and you lived in the same apartments working out conveniently for you.
“Weren’t you gonna go to the clubhouse today?” Mark said, emerging from the kitchen with a packet of your favorite ships and throwing it at you before taking a seat on the other end of the couch.
“Mondays are boring.” You said, picking the chips up from where they’d fallen to the side and beaming at Mark. “We’ll all be there later today anyways. Let Renjun do his job for now.”
“Kind and considerate, as always.” Mark smiled.
“Excuse me, I’m plenty kind.”
“I’m sure.”
You made a face at him, and then looked back at the screen, then flashing a ‘Game Over’.
Mark burst into laughter at the change of your expression, having guessed you lost. And you wanted to punch his face.
“I lost because of you!”
“No, you lost ‘cause you suck.”
“Mark Lee, I swear to god!” You said, trying to be quick to jump on him but familiar with the attack, Mark was equally quick to grab both your wrists mid air, letting the two of your struggle for dominance.
“Give up.” He laughed with his nose scrunched.
And you hated that he looked like he was barely putting in effort, so you did. And heaved a sigh. “I’ll let you win this time.”
“Is that so?” He raised a cocky brow and spun you around from where he was holding your wrist, almost onto his lap, and waged a tickle battle against you.
You squealed. “Mark! This is foul!” You whined in the middle of trying to hold your voice down.
But he didn’t stop even when you were teary eyed, and red in your face.
“Fine, you win!” You said, too exasperated to punch him for the amusement on his face.
“Don’t start fights you can’t win, baby.”
“Shut the fuck up.”
You collapsed onto the couch, trying to catch your breath, and broke into a small smile at the silliness of everything.
You wondered sometimes if Mark and you had ever even grown up.
“Obviously you’d smile.”
“This place is nice, man.” You smiled, not thinking too much about what you meant.
“You literally have almost the exact same place.” Mark deadpanned. You knew you could always trust him with being an idiot.
“Irrelevant.”
“Which reminds me, did you think about my offer?”
You blinked up at him.
The thing was: there were a few things that needed fixing at your place, some very desperately so, but you didn’t want to deal with having to come back home to a part disheveled place to rest or sleep yet. You knew it’d take away the last bit of sanity you had left.
You’d told Mark all about that. And naturally, he’d offered for you to stay over at his the first thing.
To that, you’d said you’d think about it and let him know. And you had thought about it.
Being honest, you had no real reason to not take the offer up. You’d had several movie nights and sleepovers and trips with the boys, and even just Mark in the past, and so you knew Mark was a wonderful person to be roommates with.
But something told you staying with him would mean teetering dangerous territories, whatever that meant.
“I did.” You said.
“And?”
You sighed. “Are you sure you wouldn’t mind the intrusion?”
Mark looked at you blankly. Which was honestly very well deserved.
If this was your attempt to look for a way to get out of the situation, it was an astonishingly atrocious one.
“Are you being serious?”
“Well…” You said, and sighed. “Fine, you’re right. I need to stop procrastinating.”
“Yes, you do.”
“Thanks for letting me stay.” You whined, as if complaining, and hugged Mark’s waist where he was sitting.
And he laughed, caressing your hair in return. “Lemme know when you’ll move in.”
You went to the clubhouse later that day. And as you’d expected, not a lot of business to handle.
“I might move in with Mark.” You told Renjun in the office.
“Finally.” He replied.
And you about lost it. “What?”
“What?”
And Renjun’s face turned questioning when your bewildered expression stayed.
“Wait, you’re not dating yet?”
“‘Yet’?! No, Renjun, what the fuck? Why would we date?”
Renjun just pursed his lips in silence.
And you were pretty sure confusion took over your entire being.
“My bad.” He said.
And that just did not cut it at all.
But Renjun refused to elaborate further.
Soon enough, it was time for you to move.
“It’ll be a couple weeks.”
“Stay as long as you’d like.”
The first few days were peaceful. Mark really was a wonderful person to share a place with. He asked you if you needed something every night before coming back home, and made you breakfast every morning. That was not only more than you could ask for in a roommate, but an actual dreamland.
You shook your head every time you thought of how you could really get used to it.
You were in the kitchen trying to grab the packet of popcorn from the top shelf for the movie night. You stretched your arms out, even jumped, but nothing seemed to work.
But before the struggle could get too frustrating, you felt a drop of water fall onto your neck making you shiver, as another arm reached out and grabbed it for you.
You looked back to find your roommate, wearing a pair of pajamas and nothing but a towel thrown over his shoulders on top, standing right behind you.
He’d walked right out of the shower. And the proximity, combined with the scent of his shampoo from his wet hair made you feel a little dizzy.
You breathed in as you turned around, trying not to look anywhere but his eyes. And felt almost annoyed when he didn’t instantly back off.
“Here you go.” He said, placing the packet behind you on the counter, almost trapping you in. And your eyes went a little wide when you felt butterflies in your stomach.
What the fuck?
You’d seen Mark shirtless innumerable times, it made no sense for it to affect you like this.
You shook your head and looked away, and proceeded to feel like an idiot when Mark tilted his head a little.
“Are you blushing?” You asked with surprise and the tiniest hint of teasing in his voice.
And if you weren’t already, you definitely went red at that. “Shut the fuck up and put some clothes on.”
You couldn’t have put your abhorrence towards the amusement that laced Mark’s face, into words if you tried. “Seriously, y/n?”
“I’m not blushing! What the fuck is your problem?” You spat, and turned around, grabbing the god forsaken packet of popcorn. “Go away.”
Mark had the audacity to just walk over to the other side of the counter, leaning against it with his arms crossed against his chest, and watch you.
You looked over with disbelief. “What do you want?”
Mark scoffed, letting laughter follow closely. “I’ll take care of the popcorn.” He said. “Go take a shower.”
You blinked at him. “Oh.” You spoke. “Well, okay Thanks.”
You practically ran out of the kitchen into your room, and slammed the door shut as quietly as you could. And took a deep breath.
Now what the actual fuck was that?
You came out of the shower and flopped down almost on top of Mark in front of his couch.
You knew putting distance between the two of you after what happened would not end well for any of you, so you decided to do the exact opposite.
“What movie are we watching?”
“I was thinking Avatar.” Mark said putting an arm around you.
“Mm.” You hummed in approval. “Sure.”
“Someone’s clingy today.” Mark had a small smile in his voice.
And you grabbed the popcorn bowl, and placed it on your lap. “Put the movie on.”
“Right.” Mark laughed, endeared. And you tried not to blush.
Throughout the course of the movie, you were hyperaware of all the places your body was touching Mark’s. And that made concentrating on the movie next to impossible.
“Is everything okay?” Mark asked when you couldn’t stop shifting, his voice so quiet it made you jump.
“Yeah…” Your voice just as quiet, “I feel sleepy.” You said, honestly.
Mark smiled and let the gentlest of his fingertips caress the hair adorning a side of your face, making you take in a breath at the comforting touch. “Go to sleep then.” He whispered.
And almost as if your body took his words as a command, you fell asleep.
You woke up in the guest room, where you were staying, nicely tucked under a blanket, and sat up as soon as you gained enough consciousness to remember the previous night.
You turned slightly red when you realized Mark must’ve carried you there.
“Oh my gosh…”
Staying with Mark was really proving to be dangerous.
Mark was in the kitchen when you walked out.
“Hey.” You called out to him.
And he turned around, right before flashing the softest, brightest smile, and you felt your heart go weak for a second. “Morning, slept well?”
“Yeah…” You said. “Did you carry me to the room?”
And Mark, yet again, looked amused at your concerned tone. “No, y/n. You got teleported.”
And you rolled your eyes, taking a seat at the island counter. “You’re the funniest.”
Mark smiled, placing pancakes in front of you, and laughing when your eyes gleamed.
“Thank you for the food!” You said. “And seriously, let me cook breakfast someday?”
“You’ll have to wake up before me for that.”
You frowned and pouted at that. Now that was a lot of work. But you felt determined to do it, so there was that.
“And yes, I did.”
You blinked up at him. “Ah.” And then realized and looked down at the pancakes, picking up the fork to compose yourself. “Thanks, and sorry.”
“Stop acting like a stranger, Jesus.” Mark said with disgust, cracking you up a little.
Mark was good for your nerves. But you couldn’t help but ask the next question anyways. “Did I say or do anything weird?”
Mark stared at you blankly before pretending to think. “I mean, you nuzzled into my neck and asked me to not leave, if that counts.”
You went red. And he burst into laughter.
The audacity.
“Stop fucking with me, oh my gosh!”
“Hey! It’s true, it’s just that your reaction is unwarranted as fuck and it’s ridiculous.” He said, still in the middle of laughing.
And you puffed your cheeks, stood up, picked up your plate and walked out to sit at the dining table instead.
“Hey, are you mad right now?” Mark asked, still amused, and you wanted nothing more than to punch him into his disappearance.
Later that evening, you felt like your back was breaking.
You’d had business to handle and the renovation to monitor for the last few days, leaving really less time for rest, and your back, and shoulders, hadn’t taken it well.
Mark looked concerned when you couldn’t walk straight without flinching, but you reassured him, saying you just needed rest.
He asked you to not work the next day. You told him you’d let him know how you felt about that in the morning.
You felt a little guilty for making Mark worry. He was already helping you out so much. The concerned look in his eyes wasn’t your favorite.
His smile really probably was.
So when he smiled at you, and patted the space in front of him for you to come sit, you did.
“You really look like you could use a massage.” He said, gently resting his hand on your shoulders.
Now, the problem with massages was that Mark was really good at them. It was almost inhuman. And if he were to bless you with them while you were in pain, you were sure you’d tear up in relief.
But Mark knew that, and was offering despite it.
So you gave in.
And let him press into your shoulders in a manner that made the pain dissipate into pleasure.
Your eyes fell close, and you sighed at the amazing feeling.
When he felt you were satisfied with that much, his hands went onto your lower back, and his thumbs massaged their way up your spine. And that motion made took away any form of restrain you had in you.
“Ah…” you let out a shaky moan as your back arched away from his touch.
But he continued, carefully observing which points felt the best for you, and focusing on them.
“Fuck, Mark…” You whispered, your face down.
But Mark pressed onto a point right below the nape of your neck, and you gasped, throwing your head back as you shuddered, your hand finding rest right next to you to help you keep balance.
You would’ve felt sheepish if you weren’t currently on the receiving end of the mind blowing massage. Which made you wonder why Mark hadn’t backed away from you reacting so well to him yet.
But the thought got lost somewhere when he worked his palms up your back once again.
Mark was crazy good at this. And you were but a weak woman.
“Mark… You’re really good.” You managed to form your first proper sentence in the middle of several shaky breaths, desperately wanting to give him encouragement.
And actual chills travelled down your skin when you heard Mark’s voice against your ear. “Feel good?”
“Yes.” You breathed out, holding yourself back from moaning uninhibitedly.
Something about that moment was so fragile, you were scared it would break apart the moment it was over. Your best friend was making you feel amazing, and you wanted it to never stop.
But you knew where things might end up escalating to if you didn’t stop them right there, and you knew better than to let it happen.
So you did what you knew best – dip.
“Thanks, Mark. I think I’m fine now,” You said, your voice still not having entirely recovered.
And Mark paused for a second before withdrawing his hands away from you completely.
You moved away a little before turning around to face him, which was a lot harder to do than you’d suspected. “You are ridiculously good at this.”
Mark smiled, but there was something in his eyes you couldn’t decipher. “I’m glad I was of service.”
And you felt a feeling settle in the pits of your stomach. Sort of a sinking feeling.
You smiled back at Mark, and got up.
The pain really was significantly better.
You stretched a little, and almost jumped in relief when your back didn’t act up.
Mark laughed looking at your face. And you held your fist up to warn him against making fun of you, which only made him laugh harder.
“You’re the funniest.”
Later that night, you lied on your bed for what felt like forever.
You couldn’t sleep. And the reason was that you couldn’t stop thinking about your best friend. Or how you didn’t want to think about him.
Living with him was a dangerous thing.
You found yourself travelling down memory lanes you’d been sure you’d never wander again.
“Feel good?” His soft voice echoed in your head, and made you curl up into a ball in exasperation.
Fuck, you really needed to stop thinking about him.
You sighed, and sat up. The pain in your back was about as good as gone, so you decided to stroll around for a while.
You walked out into the living room, and heard sounds from the kitchen.
“Please be kidding…” You said to yourself, before making your way towards the sounds, and found Mark standing in front of the refrigerator.
He was apparently grabbing some water, and was shirtless again.
You sighed. Living with him really was a dangerous thing.
You turned around, aiming to walk back into your room, but heard Mark’s voice before you could. “Y/n?”
And cursed under your breath before turning back around. “Hi.”
“Hi. Is your back better?”
“Yes.” You said, walking in and leaning against the dining table instead. You managed not to let the affect seeing him like that had on you show this time. It was the civil thing to do. “Couldn’t sleep?”
“Yeah.” Mark said. “You too?”
And you nodded, the quiet of the night heavy around you.
You could feel Mark’s eyes on you even as you stared at the ground and drew circles on the floor with your toes.
You deliberated between walking back into your room and waiting for him to, till you heard what Mark said next.
“Wanna go for a ride?”
And you felt your entire being light up as he smiled.
The next thing you knew was leaning back onto the passenger seat of Mark’s car and smiling as Mark took your favorite roads and drove past familiar scenes, making warmth grow inside of you a little.
Mark’s playlist of your favorite songs blasted on the sound system and you swore you just wanted to shout to the world how happy you felt from the rooftops.
And it hit you. You looked at Mark, and Mark looked at you, instantly recognizing the glint in your eyes. He shook his head as he laughed, and reached for the button and opened the sunroof.
You beamed before you got up and made your way past the gap, letting the wind hit you and carry all your worries away with it.
With your arms spread wide, you threw your head back and screamed the lyrics to the song playing at the top of your lungs, and you swore any more ecstasy than you felt in that moment would’ve made you cry.
By the time you flopped back down onto the seat, you were almost exhausted from having been too happy, your hair a mess, and Mark had the widest of his smiles plastered on his face.
“What?” You said, a little flustered.
“Nothing.” Mark spoke, the smile intact. And looked at you, catching you off guard, before looking at the road again. “I love seeing you like this.”
And you felt your heart skip several beats.
All of a sudden, Mark was all you could focus on.
And you wanted to cry.
He looked beautiful. He always did.
You wanted to kiss him.
And you tried to shake the thought away, but it wouldn’t budge.
You wanted to touch him, to tell him how much he meant to you.
Or how seen you felt with him. How much you wanted him to feel the same.
“Let’s give this a little race, shall we?” Mark grinned.
Gosh, Mark meant the world to you.
Mark stepped on the accelerator and the car picked up pace, the sound music to your ears.
“Let’s go!” You screamed along.
You stopped by the 24/7 store near the highway, and grabbed two cans of beer and a couple cigarettes.
Sitting on the bonnet of the car and talking about the most random stuff, both of you drank away.
You found it ridiculous how Mark still looked that amazing at this time of the night.
He lit your cigarette for you, and for the first time, the gesture felt almost intimate. Especially how your eyes and his lingered on each other for the extra split second.
You took the wheel on the way back home.
And had the time of your life driving the Mustang. You always did. It was a stark contrast from your lighter baby.
“That was amazing!” You exclaimed as you entered the apartment with Mark tagging behind. “Thanks a lot, Mark.”
“I had fun too so,” Mark smiled. “Anytime.”
And you wanted to kiss him once again. Stupid fucking brain.

taeil
after sidling into the kitchen after your search for your boyfriend proved fruitless, you finally found him as the culprit for the sinfully delicious scent wafting all throughout the dorms. he didn’t notice you right away, his attentions focused on the several pans simmering before him. it was always a immense task cooking for so many kids members, so you waited for him to take a step back before announcing your presence. as soon as he heard your small ‘hi’ approaching him, he looked up with a shining smile.
“hey, love!” he greeted with a peck to your cheek.
“need any help?”
“ahh...” his head whipped to the stove top at the sound of spitting oil and he immediately picked up a spoon, “...actually, yes, the bowl by the sink can go through, i think.”
“got it,” you chirped, following his instructions though not without some wandering gazes as you passed. he was wearing a cute little apron, and as his partner, there was no real harm in admiring what it accentuated.
what? you were looking respectfully...!
“cute butt.”
he hushed you with a glance at the door, leaving you to snicker.
reaching the sink you found your bowl. seeing the food inside made you almost drool, but you kept yourself together—you were nothing less than dutiful. though in that moment, you were also nothing more than a bit dumb too.
figuring it was safe to hold, you went to pick up the bowl, only to drop it suddenly with a clatter with a hiss.
of course it wasn’t as cool as you thought it was at all.
“love?” taeil was at your side in an instant, holding the back of the injured hand that you were staring at so intently.
“the bowl is still really hot,” you pouted. it hadn’t fallen far and the ceramic as well as the food inside were all safe. your fingers were just a bit reddened.
“here, run them under cold water,” taeil turned on the tap for you, before guiding your hand underneath the icy stream, “feel better?”
you nodded, though your eyes swept back to where the rest of the food was. “a little, but i think the eggs are going to over-boil.”
he cursed under his breath as he followed your line of sight, before meeting your gaze, “i can trust you to stay here, can’t i love?”
you rolled your eyes with a smile of your own and nodded once again.
“good,” he grinned before pecking you on the cheek and scurrying back to the stove.
“your butt is still cute.”
“shhh!”

johnny
there was no denying what a view the surrounding valley made, its gleaning emerald sheets cracked with narrow crevices and streams of water. you’d climbed all the way to the summit of a pile of disjointed slate just to reach a divot in the cliff side where johnny could take his photos with a better vantage.
the climb, however, seemed to take nothing out of him, as he practically skipped up excitedly like a mountain goat. you on the other hand, were left quite out of breath at the steep clamber to the top. he waited for you for most of it, reaching out to help you up, but soon you waved him along. once you’d reassured him you didn’t mind him going ahead, he gave your hand a squeeze before continuing up the rest of the way. truth be told you didn’t want him to see just how much of mess you were. you really wished you’d gone to bed earlier the night before.
as soon as you reached the top, you made a beeline to the nearest big stone that you could perch on and rest your legs. johnny was already by the edge, camera raised an gazing into the distance with a bright grin on his handsome face.
he could take your breath away just doing the bare minimum—it was a shame that you had already lost most of it to the climb.
slowly you regained your breath and felt the twinge in the soles of you feet ease. noting how beautiful he looked with the dramatic backdrop behind him, you snuck a photo of your own on your phone, before deciding to join him.
unfortunately, after you ambled over the uneven ground, just as you quietly came came to his side, johnny realised the strap of his camera wasted caught up with the tethers of his hoodie. and so he decided the easiest way to rectify it would to pulling his hand holding his camera abruptly to the side.
knocking you in the cheek, you yelped as soon as he made contact. head whipping across to you he sweeps you to his chest
“oh baby, i’m so sorry!” his head immediately whipped over to you, and shoving his camera round to his side, he swept you to his chest. “i’m so sorry, baby, i didn’t see you there.”
as you grumbled, he kissed your cheek carefully and ran the pads of his fingers across it. when you didn’t flinch and merely whined, he simply laughed sheepishly—thankfully it didn’t hurt too much, but there was no way you weren’t going to tease him with it as comeuppance.
“johnnyyy—how could you do such a thing!”
“i’m sorry, really i am!”
“yeah, you will be.”
“what does that mean?”
you didn’t respond.
“...yn?”

taeyong
having gotten all dolled up and ready for your date, taeyong offered to tie your shoelaces to save you having to readjust your outfit. obviously he was so cute and attentive you agreed. watching him carefully tie your laces with a dopey smile on your lips, you winced at how tight he pulled them. you didn’t say anything though, since you figured you’d get used to it after a bit of walking.
unfortunately though it was not to be.
after leaving the house and making your way to the restaurant beneath the starlit autumn evening, your arm in his, you found yourself struggling to keep up. taeyong was a gentleman, and he’d slowed to match your pace several times. in fact he hadn’t even registered how tiny your steps were now, rambling on about his plans for his animal crossing island.
“at first i thought i was going to do a summery beach town vibe, but then i saw these really cute bricks paths online, and i realised i had to change everything to fit them—”
there was no doubt he was adorable, doe eyes glittering with the silver of the streetlights above as he glanced forward and back to you. his gaze never roamed far, he always returned to you, your cheeks, your lips. normally he could distract you from everything, the whole world moving past behind you like a dream, while you hung off his every sweet word. however, it seemed you had found the one exception.
your shoes were squeezing your feet too tight—something they never did before—and it all pointed to the laces being done up too tight.
you internally grimaced every time you considered bringing it up to him, because you didn’t want to make him upset. nor could you just stop and retie them, since the street was lined with nowhere to lift your feet high yet discreet enough.eventually the inner turmoil and the ache of your feet gave way and you came to a stop.
“yn? sweetheart? are you alright?” taeyong wouldn’t even take a step further ahead, his arm slipping from yours just so he could stand before you and check you were alright.
“i think you did the laces too tight, yongie,” you admitted shyly, “i’m really sorry.”
to your surprise, he didn’t get upset one bit—or at least, not at what you expected.
“oh sweetheart, why didn’t you say?” he asked, concern etched on his features as he got down on one knee. the position shocked you too at first, though you knew he was just going to do your shoelaces again.
undoing them and retying them, before glancing up at you with those big eyes that made you melt every time you met them, he checked if your shoes felt looser.
“much better,” you stuttered, watching him shyly as he stood, his signature squishy smile returning.
“i’ll always be more careful from now on, love, ok?” he stroked some hair behind your ear and kissed your nose. “ready to keep going?”

doyoung
it was a simple matter of neither of you checking where you were going.
on the living room side of the door, you had stood from your seat to head into the kitchen to fetch some snacks for you and taeil. friday night, because of how you and your best friend’s schedules convened, had become movie night and after babbling for nearly an hour you decided to get on with starting your film before the gamers wanted the tv.
on the other side of the door, meanwhile, doyoung was listening to jungwoo tell a story that he swore was true that happened way before they had met. the storyteller in question was perched on the stool by the island in the centre of the kitchen, leaning on his hands neatly and watching as doyoung searched for a phone charger.
“jungwoo are you sure there isn’t one by you?” he’d interjected, running a hand through his dark fluffy hair while scouring the other counter-tops once again.
“hundred percent!”
doyoung sighed. “sorry woo, i’ll be back, just going to ask johnny if i can borrow his.”
reaching the door at the same time, you had been calling over your shoulder to taeil after he asked which studio ghibli film you wanted, when the door swung open into you.
you managed to swerve your body out of the way, though you weren’t as lucky with your foot.
wood met your big toe and you hissed, hopping back to rest against the arm of the nearest sofa.
“oh my god, yn!”
taking to your side in a rush with a panicked look on his face, you smiled sheepishly up at him from where you were leant against the arm of the nearest sofa. “i’m ok, doie, i promise.”
your response however didn’t stop him from fussing over you a single bit. apologies stuttering from his lips as his hands brushed across your shoulders to your fingers and up to your cheeks, you just chuckled him as you rubbed your toe gently.
“this isn’t funny yn!” he insisted while cupping your chin and stroking hair out of your face. “i didn’t know you were there and—are you ok? do you want any ice?”
you exhaled deeply, calm in the face of his frantic, searching eyes. “kim doyoung. i’m fine.”
and with that, you pressed a kiss to his nose quickly, and within seconds of his affection-caused stupor he found you already back on your feet, passing him by into the kitchen with a bump to his hip as you went.
he stared speechless as you left him, to just greet jungwoo as if nothing had happened. the man in question responded sweetly as he always did, but then turned to doyoung and his smile grew too wide for his own good.
“go away jungwoo,” he mumbled, to which the younger looked offended.
“it’s not my fault you’re adorable!”
it won’t last super long, as hell pull away to check you’re ok, a hand on your back. “yn, i’m sorry i didn’t know you were there, are you alright? ”

yuta
“honestly, i can’t believe he even told me that. like you’d think there are just things that you would never admit to, even when drunk but—”
“he’s a solid lightweight, yuta! that much alcohol and he might as well have been a puddle; a sappy, emotional, puddle of—”
after a successful date, the two of you were walking home hand in hand when you came across a small group of kids playing football on the green near your apartment. you didn’t think much of it, until the ball rolled away from them just a few steps ahead of you.
without a second thought, yuta let go of your hand to retrieve it for them, and you could already tell where this would end up going. coming to a stop with a sigh and a laugh, you watched as the events all unfurled just like how you expected.
the ball would be by his feet, he’d pull some cool little tricks that would make the kids stare up in awe, and within minutes he’d be attempting to teach them how to bounce a ball behind you your heel.
it never stopped amazing you just how he insisted on subtly showing off to you, even so far into your relationship. you always felt yourself urged to laugh and tell him he didn’t have to anymore. “you’ve already won me,” you would joke.
but you never did.
guess that meant it kept working.
grinning from ear to ear at the adorable sight of yuta acting like a father, you had to bite your tongue to stop yourself from cooing when one of the eldest of the group took to him like duck to water. he’d knelt to be closer to her level, holding the ball and helping her get the angle of her foot right all while she gazed at him eagerly.
the whole scenario began to spin thought in your head, second-guessing the answers you had given in a special conversation not too long ago. unfortunately, it mant you didn’t see the ball coming your way.
you had to admit when you hunched over out of reflex at the contact that the girl had a mighty kick. your shin was practically throbbing. however you were well aware of the panicked faces staring at you, frozen in gasps with hands smacked over their gawping mouths, and so you straightened as quickly as you could, playing off the ache of a bruise that was no doubt forming as yuta called out to you.
“yn, love, are you ok?!”
“y-yeah!” you cleared your throat as soon as you heard your stutter. “she’s got a strong leg that one!”
because of the soft tone yuta spoke in and the distance, you couldn’t discern what he said to the young girl who looked on the verge of tears. whatever he said however, worked, and within seconds she was wiping away her tears with a giggle.
before your thoughts could trail back to where they had squirrelled your attentions away and got you in this small mess, yuta was bidding them goodbye and jogging over to you.
“i’m so sorry, love, i should’ve checked which way she was facing. are you sure you’re ok?” his arm was around your shoulders in an instant, his free hand hovering by your cheeks as if waiting to be allowed to hold them again.
“yeah, i’m alright, i think.”
his eyes seemed to brighten carefully with a playful glint, “i don’t need to carry my princess?”
you snorted, slowly easing the two of you into a slow space.
“what? you know i always will if you ask!”
you hushed him and swatted at his hand by your jaw. finally relaxing with a laugh, his arm slipped from your shoulders down to your waist where he pulled you close, and his lips planted a kiss into your hair.
“you’ll always be my princess,” he whispered gently. and in that moment you felt yourself melt.
truly you didn’t need him to carry you home, but there was nothing wrong with letting him help you only a little bit right?
and so you gave in, leaning into his side and resting your head on his shoulder, your eyes fluttering closed.

jaehyun
you hadn’t been overly convinced about jaehyun’s suggestion for your holiday destination. however, now you had to admit that you were thoroughly won over. the town was so peaceful, the air so fresh, and if this gentle path was anything to go by, it felt like the gentler adventures in a ghibli movie.
lined with arching trees dripping with wisteria you were stunned by its beauty. even when you glanced away your attentions were enraptured were more colours. the hydrangeas and other bushes you couldn’t recognise, their scents lifting your spirits and mottled lilacs shifting into branches of pink and blue being truly satisfying to take in even at a distance.
coming closer you could see the soft fuzzy balls of gold and onyx bumbling about the flowers, and you couldn’t help but try and take photos of the bees.
it proved harder than you expected—who knew bumble bees could be so fast when they wanted to be. noticing that you had only managed to catch blurs so far, you became acutely aware of jaehyun sneaking glances at you.
again. like he always did.
admiring your smile instead of the beauty around him like you always lightly chided him for.
“you’ll miss out on what’s actually worthy of your attention at that moment!” you always found yourself saying, but he always shook his head and swore otherwise. you did suppose your words made you a bit of a hypocrite though—it wasn’t like you didn’t watch jaehyun too, and almost just as often as him for that matter.
shaking your head and pretending to not notice his gaze you crept even closer to the flowers, where your eyes suddenly picked up on the perfect moment encapsulated in the bud of fresh crimson. a bumble bee, fast asleep in the cradle of a flower. you felt your heart melt as you took a cautious photo, not wanting to wake the little bub.
strangely you couldn’t stop yourself from making the link between it and jaehyun. the way it was curled round just reminded you of how you always found jaehyun in the morning, especially after a particularly rough day. he always made a cocoon of the duvets for the two of you—perhaps without even realising it—and he often curled up. it wasn’t what you had expected of him, but you didn’t care—playing little spoon was just as fun to you.
feeling the need to hold him again you left the small bee in peace and crept towards the man you held so close to your heart. you found his attentions turned to the canopies above rather than you, so you figured it was a prime opportunity to strike.
with a back hug. you were feeling too soft.
jogging to catch up knowing full well he was probably too out of it to notice—he could get so deep in his own thoughts sometimes—you managed to get right behind him, when he suddenly stopped dead in his tracks.
you crashed into him with an ‘oof’, and immediately jaehyun turned around to see you rubbing your nose with a pout.
“ah, sorry baby!” he chuckled simply, kissing you cheek gently in an extra apology, before scooping you round and into his arms.
you didn’t think any more of it, and merely sank into his embrace. his hugs were always so warm and you absently nuzzled your cheek into his chest. perhaps you would have worried about coming to a stop in the middle of the path, but honestly, you had more important things to worry about. like, how you were practically a ragdoll in his arms.
you hoped you wouldn’t stumble when you had to walk again like last time.

sicheng
hazy images of a peaceful corner store blinkered out like an old tv set as you were suddenly awoken with a jolt. a dull ache pooled at your hip and you grumbled as you forced your eyes open.
what you found was enough to bring a drowsy smile to your lips. you knew full well you had fallen asleep facing away from your boyfriend, but now you were much much closer, meaning both of you had shimmied towards one another throughout the night.
in respect to the pain in your side, you traced your eyes down where the blankets had receded—sicheng was such a blanket thief, and with the single thin layer you both had swivelled round his legs, tonight was clearly no different—to where you spotted his hand.
loosely flung across your waist, it was cold thanks to the open window sending a breeze through your room, and clearly the culprit to your sudden awakening.
still, he looked so sweet with his face scrunched into his pillow, hair splayed like a mussed crown and soft lips in a pout. and so you opted to just move on. he was lucky he was so cute.
shifting closer to him, you entwined your leg with one of his and reached across to stroke a lock of his fringe out of his eyes. he shifted at your touch in his sleep, revealing his face from the cloth of the pillow. in the shadows of the early morning you saw his sleeping scowl soften when you ran your thumb across his cheek soothingly.
feeling satisfied, you tucked your head beneath his and held his hand by his chest, before finally giving back into sleep.

jungwoo
bright lights shining in the face of a brilliant fading sun, faces passed you by as you strode down the sidewalk. perhaps on a normal occasion you would’ve slowed down, but there was no way you could in this situation—you were too excited. your boyfriend was home.
turning the corner and narrowly avoiding an elderly lady, as the crowds dispersed you came to a stuttered stop. the world around you faded away just like it had done the first time you had kissed, as your eyes met his. they widened in awe, brimming with a starlit sky, before he smiled, and you felt your heart stop.
you hadn’t expect to miss him so much. it was only two weeks, you had insisted to yourself for the days leading up to his tour, others have had to wait longer, you’ll be fine.
you had believed it with your whole body, but as the days winded like paths in a lost forest and the pressures winded you down, the weight of his missing touch had swollen to where you could barely bear it.
and maybe you were being dramatic—you chided yourself for it as if you were—but as soon as soon as his arms were around you, you felt the tears prickle in the corner of your eyes.
“y/n, i missed you so much,” jungwoo murmured, sweet voice so soft it could have been swept away.
you rested your head upon his shoulder, where it belonged and breathed in the scent of home. everything that had plagued you before felt manageable once again.
“i wish you could have come with me, it felt so weird without you—and i bet it would have been ten times as fun! not that it wasn’t fun, just...”
you chuckled at his ramblings, gripping at his hoodie as he squeezed you tighter.
“ahh, i missed you...!” he drawled, voice playfully gritty as he pressed his cheek into your crown.
still laughing and feeling the tears long gone, you ended up tugging at his back, “woo! i—can’t... breathe!”
he pulled away with a yelp, his hands coming to rest at your cheeks instead and apologised softly over and over again, though a bright smile remained on his lips. his touch—like always—lingered, and so his fingers traced up to stroke your hair, while he leant in to plant kisses on your cheeks through your laughter.
“i missed you too,” you whispered, linking your hands behind his neck when he stilled.
he pressed his forehead to yours wordlessly, his eyes fluttering closed. it had obviously been a tough time for him too—he liked a lot of affection, so there was no doubt he was just as touch starved as you were.
of course though, your luck would inevitably run out and it did so in the form of donghyuck calling over to the two of you.
“hey lovebirds, some of us actually want to eat, you know?”
the time away had also let some of the others clearly forget some things too.
“come on, we’d better go before youngest decides to go feral,” you said.
“you think he’d do it?”
you peered up at your boyfriend with an exaggerated look of disbelief. “you have met hyuck, right?”

mark
“ha! nice try!”
“that was close! you gotta admit that was close!”
after your friends all decided to go camping and finally bought a tent big enough for a few extra people, you asked mark if he wanted to go too. he’d answered yes without a hesitation of course, and before you knew it the day before the trip rolled round and it was time to pack.
of course, you and your boyfriend could never stay focused for more than three minutes when together, and it led to the two of you going from passing clothes to one another to neatly pack into your suitcases to just straight up lobbing socks at one another.
“is this one of your socks or mine?”
“definitely yours, i would never wear such a thing.”
“are you hating on melons?”
“watermelons cancelled, avocados superior—mark!”
it had only digressed from there.
now your bedroom was littered with random socks and the odd shirt and you were taking cover behind your side of the bed. with a balled up sock in one hand, the other feeling around for more ammunition behind you, you were waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
“you’re gonna miss,” mark teased from his makeshift trench.
“oh really?” you couldn’t hide the smile that was evident in your voice. “how about this:i’m going to hit you bullseye, and you—you want to know where your sock is going to go?”
“where’s it gonna go, babe?”
“it’s going to go aaall the way over there!” you pointed to the door on the other side of the room. the only issue with that was a blur of navy suddenly shot past your hand, forcing you to retreat further behind your cover.
“ha! you missed!” you exclaimed, before twigging the silver lining. “also, thanks for the ammo.” stretching out a leg to retrieve the sock, you unfortunately found it just out of reach. you cursed.
“what’s wrong babe, too scared to face me?”
you scoffed. “what’s scary about you mark? no offence, but i feel like i’m being threatened by a cupcake.”
you had an exaggerated gasp from the other side of the bed, and took it as the prime opportunity to strike. get him while he’s still reeling. a fantastic plan.
however, in the joy of concocting what you thought was an infallible plan, you completely failed to consider your boyfriend’s frankly inhuman reactions.
and so you stood, raised your arm, and then got pink cotton in your mouth.
you sputtered, staggering back, as mark's hands flew to his lips. “oh my gosh, baby—!”
despite the dryness that quickly left your tongue as you batted it away and how startled you were at the accuracy, you fell into fits of giggles. “mark, you shit!”
he didn’t share the same sentiment however, and once he’d overcome being frozen to the spot he began to hurry to your side. “baby, i’m so sorry, are you ok? are you sure you’re alright?”
he was met with a balled up sock bouncing off his forehead.

hyuck
the movie was nowhere near as good as you had all expected it to be, which meant it was only a matter of time before the whole dorm descended into madness.
it had been jisung, oddly, that had been the first one to speak up about how ridiculous one of the characters was behaving, and it had led all the others to join the bandwagon and begin cackling at all the plot-holes—and boy were there a lot of them.
you had mostly stayed quiet simply because the way donghyuck posed his jokes and criticisms was something you could never compete with, and you would much rather listen and laugh about what he had to say rather than do so.
the two of you had cozied up together beneath a blanket, but as soon as the chaos ensued he had shifted away, ripping on the film with wild hand movements and adding onto the points that jaemin proposed with a huge grin.
you watched him, only glancing over at the tv screen whenever some horrifically edgy dialogue was grumbled, as he impersonated the main protagonist—the stereotypical grisly ‘morally-grey’ hero who was really just a dick.
in an instant mark’s famous high-pitch laugh lilted across the air, and you were left reeling with everyone else.
unfortunately, it was cut short.
your boyfriend, forgetting your proximity, decided to continue with one of his points, dipping into genuine criticism that even you were proud of, but happened to fling his hand out in emphasis.
his knuckle whacked your arm, and though it wasn’t hard it did hurt a bit and you immediately whined, “owwww!”
as the rest of dream choked on their own laughter or waited to see if you were ok—what an angel jisung was, and as for the rest you made a mental note to kick their asses later—donghyuck’s words stopped dead in their tracks as his attentions turned solely to you, as he reflected your hurt tone.
“ahh, yn, i’m so sorry, i’m so sorry, please forgive meee.” he rubbed your arm gently before peppering your face with kisses, which was enough to get your to crack a smile once again.
“hmmm,” you pretended to think about it for a moment, “i’m not sure though... what you did was pretty—”
“ynnnnn!”
you scoffed teasingly, but pulled him into your arms nevertheless. letting him drape himself across your shoulder, you took his hand into your own and wrapped your free arm around him to pull him closer.
“i forgive you, duck,” you reassured, petting his hair when he hummed in response.
