AUHHH first scorpionfly of the year 🔥🔥🔥 I LOVE scorpionflies

These little guys are completely harmless! They are so cute and belong to their own order, mecoptera.

WOW! I went with my mom and stepdad for a 4+ mile hike at the Newport Wetlands! These wetlands are GORGEOUS! I can't tell you how amazing it was! The trails were very easy to navigate, there was a boardwalk portion! I will warn, the non-boardwalk part of this trail was very narrow at times, with lots of hills and uneven terrain.

I was shocked the further and further we went! There were wild daffodils, thousands of tadpoles, a huge lake... it goes on and on. Fantastic place to see damselflies and birds! We actually ran into another photographer on our journey with a camera specifically for bird photos. This trail was full of so many beautiful things!

I hope to visit many more times!

I got a lot of photos at this one, this was a pretty long trail with a lot of interesting features compared to where I typically go.

Captured some night life the other night! My porch attracts just about everything. We have a green shield bug, furrow spider, and some kind of isopod.

Just a few dipterans! The first photograph is a robber fly! They look so silly from that angle. The second photograph is a drain fly!

Wow some of my favorite natural patterns and colors are that that can be found on grasshoppers! That ones colors are so perfect. The katydids are amazing too! They are impressively large.

Hey! I made a post on my other blog about my journey in the Newport Wetlands! I wanted to post some of the smaller life I photographed!

These were the insects I was able to get pics of! Some kind of damselfly and a green larvae hanging from a thread!

Here we have a puffball mushroom, cancer root, and what I believe is slime mold!
