Moon 132-Newleaf

Newleaf was supposed to be a new start.  Everything was going so well.  Chasingskip (44) had announced that she was expecting kits, thrilling Chervilcry (111) who’s excited to have Grandkits.  However, the excitement was short-lived after Needlepelt (35) was found dead near the ChaffinchClan border.  ElementClan had just made peace with their neighbors.  Do they want to start a war again?  Caterpillarmallow (82) feels like she has lost a tail, or a limb, or a shadow.  She relied on Needlepelt, trusted her, and contemplating moving on from the loss seems impossible.  Caterpillarmallow trembles, tearing at her nest, unable to sleep as she broods over Needlepelt’s last moments.  Did she suffer?  Was she scared?  Was there something Caterpillarmallow could have done to better protect her co-worker?  She can’t shake the crushing guilt.  Frostheart (35) is shocked that she and Gladepaw (8) are the only surviving members of Brightfalcon and Bushmask’s family.  How did their large family dwindle to so few?  Caterpillarmallow’s grief has been making her testy.  She snaps at little Rustkit (1) and gets in a fight with her that Chervilcry ends up breaking up.   Meanwhile, Lupinefrost (15) has been developing a bit of a crush on Frostheart.  He stays up all night thinking about ways to impress her.

Moon 131-Leaf-bare

Conepaw (14) has received her Healer name of Conegoat, honoring her nurturing presence.  She feels like there’s still so much to learn and frets about whether or not she is ready.  Caterpillarmallow (81) assures her that StarClan will always be there to guide her.  Needlepelt (34) knows that her brother’s kit has gone through a lot of loss in his young life and wonders how he’s doing.  Gladepaw’s (7) her apprentice, but she doesn’t feel like she knows her nephew very well.  She’ll have to fix that.  Cressfreckle (47) is feeling exhausted.  He’s been working so hard keeping an eye on the Clan's young cats that he hasn’t taken much time for himself.  Frostheart (34) is also wondering how Gladepaw is doing.  She hasn’t really been a part of his life, as she wasn’t close with her brother, but Gladepaw seems like a decent cat.  She may want to get to know him.  In other news, the newcomer Strawberrytrail (119) has decided to retire.  She may as well make the best use of Clan life, right?  While on patrol, the Healers come across two kits next to the dead body of their mother.   One of them, Pigeonkit (0), has a weak earth-blessing, while the other, Rustkit (0), is powerless.

Moon 123-Greenleaf

Fry’s (30) kits have been made apprentices!  As predicted, Conepaw (6) and Gardeniapaw (6) have been made Healer apprentices, to Caterpillarmallow (73) and Needlepelt (26) respectively.  Graysong (36) wonders if the reason he didn’t get an apprentice is because of his closeness with Yellowcreek (50).  Gardeniapaw is so eager to be made an apprentice that she doesn’t even let her father finish grooming her before running up to the front of the crowd for her ceremony.  Conepaw knew there was a chance she wouldn't be made a Healer apprentice and all but ordered Yuccastar (102) to make her one.  Steppepaw (6), despite being earth-blessed, is made a warrior apprentice.  She tries to act unexited about getting to be a warrior, but inside she’s bouncing around with euphoria like a kit.  Wildpaw (6) is apprenticed to Peakspots, as he will be best suited to training a fire-blessed cat.  It can be so easy for fires to get out of control.  He knows from stories from his mother about how she almost burned down the camp several times in training.  Lupinepaw (6) is apprenticed to Timberfleck (20), giving the young cat his first apprentice.  Back in the nursery, Cressfreckle (39) gets in a fight with Flightkit (2) after she made some comment about how Yellowcreek is unlucky and she won’t want to play with his kits.  He comes out of it a little bit singed and with vines sprouting from his ears. Flightkit is going to be a handful.  Faiththrift (44) is also not a fan of Yellowcreek’s allies.  That’s something she and Yuccastar can bond over.  She glares at Graysong and Yellowcreek from across the clearing.

Moon 113-Greenleaf

Finally, FINALLY, Needlepaw (16) has been made a full Healer.  Her name is Needlepelt, in honor of her emotional maturity.  She’s compassionate and great at diagnosing cats.  Despite her near non-existent earth-blessing, she’ll make a great Healer.  And she’s not the only one who’s been given her full name this moon.  Pythonpaw (10)  has been made a warrior early!  Peakspots (97) has proven his mettle as a mentor, and Pythonpaw excelled at every task put before him.  He’s been given the full name of Pythonrush and honored for his zeal.  Bushmask (123),who has grown quite reverent of star-blessed cats, makes sure to welcome Faiththrift (34) into the Clan.  It can’t hurt to be on good terms with her, right?  His daughter, Antlersky (71), is less thrilled with the newer cats in the Clan.  Especially Gentle (100).  How is he better than her at hunting!  It’s not fair.  Darkpetal (152) has been hanging out with Flinttooth (14), spreading rumors.  He tells her that Graysong (26) has been acting weird, spending a lot more time than normal with that dark-cursed cat.  Graysong has indeed been spending more time with Yellowcreek (40). . .and staying up late at night trying to think of ways to impress him.  Aww.
