The pioneers soon found their entertainment levels alarmingly low, and decided to repack the wagons to dig out some recreational items.

Jesse pulled his guitar out of a trunk, while Lottie decided to focus on knitting.

Meanwhile, Charles and Nellie prefer to cloudgaze together for fun.

After the first day on the road, the travelers set up camp before dark.

Jesse is the first to successfully start a fire, and he and Nellie begin toasting bread for dinner. Rachel makes polite chit chat about Jesse's medical career and Nellie's plans for the church she and her husband plan to establish.

R: "I look forward to being able to sing in a church again."

N: "I am as well. My husband, Charles, is hoping we can convince church benefactors to send us a piano eventually. I'd love to be able to play."

R: "That would be lovely! Mr. Wheeler, do you plan to set up a clinic when we arrive?"

J: "Oh, I'll probably work out of my home at first, assuming I can get a cabin built quickly. I'm sure I'll do a fair amount of house calls as well. I've heard doctors are scarce, so may even needs to acquire a horse to ride to neighboring settlements."

Meet the Pioneers

Jesse and Charles spend a lot of time together having discussions about the town they hope to live in someday.

Spending time around the campfire is the pioneers' main activity, but also a source of great danger. Nellie's skirts caught on fire one evening while having dinner. Luckily the fire was put out and she was fine, but it was quite scary in the moment!

No, but for real, there's a fire almost every day. I made them put it out, but perhaps next wagon I'll do death rolls for the sim who catches on fire.

The ladies of the wagon train were getting to know each other when suddenly snow began to fall. It was light and wouldn't last long, but the reactions to this weather was mixed. Some were excited to see snow, while others (Nellie, mostly) were quite grouchy about it. It was a relief when Rachel was able to get a fire going for warmth.

Charles and Nellie are the only married couple in the wagon train. Charles is a minister who convinced the higher ups of his church that he should be sponsored to head west to establish a church for the settlers. He felt a wife would be a help to him in this task, so he proposed to Nellie. Nellie hadn’t been too sure what she wanted to do with her life up to that point, but there wasn’t much keeping her where she was and she liked Charles well enough to accept his proposal.
