Went on a college field trip to Newfields in Indiana a few weeks ago to see the Lume and it was absolutely breathtaking. Highly recommend going if you ever get the chance!

Calypso, oil on canvas (ca. 1906) American Impressionist George Hitchcock (1850–1913) depicted the sea nymph within a field of blossoms. In Homer's Odyssey, Calypso held the hero Odysseus captive on her island of Ogygia for seven years until Hermes arrived to demand his release.

Calypso’s classical robes and the surrounding clouds reflect the artist's focus on light and wind. The composition uses a bright palette and a high horizon to integrate the nymph into the coastal landscape. Loc. Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields, Indianapolis.
