in honour of nif week: here’s the fic translations i’ve done, for those who haven’t read them yet! all complete and pretty much focused on changsu and jingyan, with various appearances from the rest of the cast.

4k words. bittersweet with a strong emphasis on the former, and poems which i may or may not have mangled in translation. some references to novel events; i’ve linked relevant bits in the (very extensive) notes.

and last but not least – the most humongous of them all, the absolute whopper

an absolutely mind-boggling 106k words(!!) including 2 side stories. the post-nif1 fix-it AU you never knew you wanted but absolutely do. tropes include amnesia, identity porn, hurt/comfort up the wazoo, and a guaranteed happy ending to boot. also poetry, politics, and my eternal struggles to translate both. read it and weep.

So, I made some clay figurines some time ago and I’m actually pretty proud of how they turned out. Might post more of them later and am also thinking of adding to their household - any ideas? (Small things for now or big things for later when I can go buy some decent-ish cheap clay again.)

山水画意 - in the painting of a scene

The clappers in the mountain’s temple have gone to rest; a misting rain dampens straw sandals. Where fragrant flowers are cleverly hidden by the stone stairs, amidst the vibrant greenery, lies titling reds.

After a sudden shower, the sun shines gently; see the carp leap upon the river! Spring festivities end in the blink of an eye; pear blossoms wither. Letters are sent in their carved fish boxes, wind carries the drying leaves, and the hum of insects is the music of the mountains.

Watch, in the distance, the veil of fog has yet to lift; dandelions add the finishing touch, like snow falling on a clear day. In the painting, there is dew hidden deep in a spring flower’s petals. Who notices?

Look closely, as crisp shadows gently sway, the wind moving bare branches startles sparrows; upon the table, another page of the book is turned.

Alone, an old man fishes with the moon in the river; away from home, a guest dreams being a butterfly. Bidding farewell by the long dam, a willow branch as gift, a promise for the distant future is left behind.

The silken threads of sentiment in the painting need no written word, in the movement of still objects, the tiniest drop seems to proclaim it in a torrent. Bend down, listen as the flute trills at the edge of hearing, its melody so clear; rain falls in the mountains wild.

Watch, in the distance, the veil of fog has yet to lift; dandelions add the finishing touch, like snow falling on a clear day. Summer lotuses, Autumn cicadas, all overlapping in strands of thought.

Look closely, at the boat like a blade of grass, and the sandy shore covered in reeds of pure white; the bridge’s reflection that urges the geese’s return prolongs this verse.

Daylight. One moment there, and in the next gone, viewing the painting, becoming one with it without realizing at all; against the backdrop of mountains and water, watch the snow pile on and waves froth.
