This is something I've been thinking about for a while: a list of who should have been at Worf and Jadzia's wedding.

Any of Jadzia's family

I know the in universe explanation for them not being there is because of the war going on and in RL they probably weren't able to get all the actors, but I think it would have been cool.

Seeing Geordi, Data, and Nikolai participating in the Kal'Hyah with the other would have been fun. Data having no trouble with any of it, Geordi and Data reuniting with Miles, and Nikolai telling them stories from Worf was a kid.

Helena and Sergey meeting Jadzia for the first time. I think they'd like her.

I could see Sirella and Helena butting heads over a couple of things.

It would have also been nice if they could have incorporated some Trill and Human customs into their wedding. Maybe a Trill vow and an exchange of rings.

If anyone knows of a fic like this, let me know.

TW: Implied Objectification and Fetishisation

After giving this passage some thought I am quite disturbed by the implications. For context, throughout the story Tania has acted very innocently towards Worf. Her behaviour is what you'd expect from a teenage girl with a crush and has even defended Worf from people who discriminate against Klingons (unbeknowst to him). Yet when Worf hears she has feelings for him he immediately dismisses her as a fetishist.

This becomes troubling when you wonder what Worf has experienced so that this is his immediate reaction/expectation, especially since in the series we don't see him pursue Human women.

What makes this even worse is that Worf is in his first year of the academy when this scene takes place, so I'm assuming he's developmentally eighteen (in Klingon years that would probably be nine to ten years old). Whatever he's experienced that made him believe that his Human peers only see him as an object happened during his teenage years.

More evidence that Worf had one of the worst childhoods in Star Trek.

Season 7, episode 13: Homeward

Another one!!!

Commentary:

- RIP Voral :(

- I love that Geordi got a prophetic sign named after him. Good for him. And he knows about it!!!

- So, how long was Nikolai really interacting with the aliens before the Enterprise came? It seems like it was more than 4 days. And was he the only one at the outpost?

- I loved seeing Worf smile. He looks so nice like that.

- Worf has a foster brother apparently?! Why was this never mentioned before?

- This was a very convoluted plan honestly. But, it worked, so who am I to question it?

- I’m honesty on Nikolai’s side, I don’t like that the prime directive makes it so that they can’t save species, even in ways that make it so that they would never know. I think that as long as they don’t notice, it should be fine.

7/10, pretty standard episode, but pretty good.

Ok, one more for today and then I’ll stop. I’m excited for the one after the next one, so I’m gonna save it.

Worf saying that he wants nothing more to do with his brother Nikolai is incredibly funny to me. I'm willing to bet he disowned someone atleast once a week as a kid.

“Homeward” (S07E012, Stardate 47423.1) is a good exploration of Worf's relationship with his brother, and a solid exploration of the Prime Directive and hot how difficult it can be for. Starfleet officers. The ending is a tad clean (save for Vorin's suicide) but the debate is worth it. I tried to emulate the feel of the historic records for my episode poster.
