The Not-Quite-Boy Who Lived
Yo!! I’m back again with another little fic o(〃’▽’〃)o! It’s another little Lunarry thing because I have quite a few of these lying around ngl,,,,(⸝⸝•́દ•̀⸝⸝). Honestly all the Lunarry stuff I post will all pretty much be connected in it’s own little AU. This one-shot takes place during 6th year sometime after the Slug Club thing. I myself am nonbinary and I’d just like to remind you as you read this that 1: Not all nonbinary people use they/them pronouns and 2: I’m trying to be at least somewhat realistic about both Luna and Harry’s understanding of queer subjects as having been raised in the 80′s and 90′s. Harry being as sheltered as he was about this things via abuse likely just doesn’t even Know yet that he can use they/them pronouns and honestly I still haven’t decided on something like pronoun usage past this fic hehe (。・//ε//・。). But anyways!! Enjoy this little fic of Luna helping Harry come to understand and accept himself ・:*(〃∇〃人)*:・
(〃・ω・〃)ノ~☆
Harry lazily swayed back and forth on the porch swing in the room of requirement. Luna was meant to meet him there in a few moments but for the time being he was lost in his own thoughts. Stuck on another article the Daily Prophet had released that day. It wasn’t like the contents of it particularly bothered him in any way. It was the same old nonsense villainizing him for just breathing, but that same age old title had him thinking.
‘Boy Who Lived’
Don’t get him wrong, the title was always strange, but it was that one little word he didn’t like most. Boy.
I HC nonbinary Harry because the baby has no predetermined traits of gender of than 'guys like Vernon and Dudley are BIG and girls like Petunia are SMALL and Harry is a tiny little thing but at the same time Harry doesn't feel comfy with being called a girl and yet Harry doesn't feel right as a boy either??? Totally projecting but this child is the fruit of the readers, so I don't feel bad about it at all
Sorry about the double ask I just need to say that modern wizards would totally 100% not give a shit about gender at all and would probably have like... boob pasties that magically stick to your skin and magically you can feel it like it's real, or like even just magic binders that feel like clouds and can change colors depending on your mood and oh my god I want to be a wizard
---
HI YES where do I get a magical binder that feels like clouds and changes colours with my mood? Thanks 👀
Also, omg I stan nonbinary Harry so much 😍
I have somehow written more than 1500 words today. Unfortunately it's not for my WIPs but an entirely new gender expression fic. H/C Larry with Non-binary Harry, with Baldrry. I'm hoping it will be good.
drabble challenge #19
This is dedicated to the Anon who was looking for genderqueer Harry this morning and also to the Anon who requested Drarry, #28, “Marry me?” as a part of this drabble challenge (I’ve still got a few to fill, but I’m open to more requests as long as you know it will take me a while to get to them).
Harry’s wedding robes look something like this: X, X, and X.
Conjuration As a child, Draco’s parents had made it perfectly clear that it was his duty as a Pureblood son to marry and produce an heir. For that reason, he thought it strange that his mother had seemed so relieved when he returned from his first Hogwarts fitting at Madam Malkin’s, and asked to look at some wedding outfits for his future spouse. He’d been very careful not to use the word bride, but Draco was not surprised when he opened the brown paper package from Flourish and Blotts and found two magazines, Witch Dress? and From Witch to Wife. The second magazine was confounding—was a woman no longer a witch after her wedding? That didn’t seem fair. Nevertheless, Draco combed through the magazines. He didn’t expect to find anything for his intended, so he froze for a moment when he turned the page and saw the perfect set of robes. The witch who twirled across the page seemed to be floating. Her outfit was made of layers of gauzy silk, a fluttering waterfall of green that flowed from the palest mint into a puddle of seafoam at her bare feet. The boy with the bright green eyes would look beautiful in these robes.
The morning of his wedding found Draco rummaging through some family heirlooms in the attic. He had no idea which of the dozens of boxes from the manor contained his mother’s jade earrings that Harry had decided at the last minute to wear. Draco knew that he was wasting time when he opened his old school trunk, but he couldn’t explain it. He felt compelled. Placed on top of his folded Hogwarts robes was the journal he had kept during his first year. Several pages into the diary he had pasted the picture of the witch in the green wedding outfit. A halo of words surrounded the woman. He had written in curling handwriting Marry me? over and over again. Marry me? Marry me? Marry me, Harry? He knew he wasn’t supposed to see Harry before the wedding, but Draco’d forgotten that in his excitement. He pushed open the door to their bedroom, but stopped short. The diary dropped from his fingers to the floor. When Harry turned toward him, Draco thought he was caught in a dream from years ago. Harry’s green wedding robes were an almost perfect match to the photo in Draco’s journal. Wrapped in delicate gauze, Harry seemed to glow. They glittered like sunlight on water. They seemed conjured from Draco’s childhood vision. They were beautiful. “Marry me?” Draco said.
I really love that you write genderqueer!Drarry. Do you have any fic recs for genderqueer!Harry especially?
Hi Anon!
First of all, thank you for the message! I wish I had better news about genderqueer!Harry. There’s very little nonbinary Harry out there. I’m not sure how much contact you’ve had with my blog, but there’s a short fic that I wrote with a genderfluid Harry called “Love Stones.” I’ll also link you to a conversation that happened in reblogs between me and @dictacontrion speculating about the lack of nonbinary Harry. “Love Stones” inspired the most gorgeous piece of fanart by @unranunculus (posted on her NSFW blog @rancognito ) that I just like to sit and stare at:
For other stories with nonbinary Harry, you might check out Nattish’s Balancing Act Trilogy, which I discussed in this post about trans Harry/Draco fic.
I’m sorry that I couldn’t be more help! I’ll keep my eye out. And maybe think about this request in my next story.
Anyone else read a nonbinary Harry fic?
