something something everyone wants nonbinary terminology that sounds natural but no one wants to use new terminology enough to naturalize it. idk to tell y'all this but new words are always going to sound weird until they don't. nonbinary people are gonna continue to be alienated by language until we pussy up!! also tbh i feel like some people just think any terminology that is blatantly tied to nonbinary people is cringe by virtue of exorsexism making all nonbinary things cringe

Hello! I have a question. What does “enben” mean? Is it a replacement for “enby”?

Hi! Good question!

Enben is the plural of enban, the non-binary gendered equivalent of man/woman. It is derived from the term enby. I prefer to use it because enby was initially understood to be a term that referred to non-binary youth. Whilst not everyone uses it that way, I personally prefer to use enban to describe all non-binary people to both show enben that there is more vocabulary to describe ourselves, but also to subtly uninfantilise non-binary people. Enban is a more adult feeling option. It also helps popularise these terms so other enben as well as binary people are aware of nonbinary vocabulary.

Ok guys, uhh, hear me out.

I've seen this post a handful of times before, but now I've been thinkin.

Just like they said, there is a lack of androgynous counterparts if binary gendered words that 1) are not umbrella terms or 2) are not derived from nonbinary/enby and that honestly sucks.

So, I am suggesting a couple specific to nonbinary folks wording that were and were not originally proposed by me, in regards of man/woman and boy/girl.

For the androgynous for man/woman, specifically for people who are not willin to use enban/enben there is ferhman and ferhmen. I specifically like this one because the origin of the “ferh” part comes from old english “feorh” that can mean soul, living being or person.

And this one, that I specifically like because I kinda came up with the idea, is the androgynous for boy/girl: fer! It's short and it's one syllable with combines with the shortness of both girl and boy, somethin that ticked me off with enby as a counterpart. And I specifically think the plural is cute! Feries! It even makes a crescent order of plurals; boys (4 letters), girls (5 letters) and feries (6 letters).

Just noting that I did not exactly came up with the suggestions, outside of fer, because I'm generally spreadin the idea here. Feel inspired to come up with other androgynous language, I'd feel happy if you did so actually, because I'm tired of people not taking nonbinary language seriously and not making an effort to create with their own community.

Hey so like question for Germans

Is using "das" endings for enby people considered okay or not?

I'm talking stuff like: "liebes", "mein junges Freund", etcetera (pls excuse my German and the lack of examples)

Less so, referring to oneself using "das Freund" or "das Lehrer" or something. I don't actually know much German culture and approach to language so sorry if it's a stupid question, I've tried google but that thing is shit for finding info, especially about other cultures.
