Happy Friday the 13th!
Gentle reminder that you don’t need to think/feel/believe this day to be all about femininity.
If you don’t want to include Gender in Witchcraft, that’s more than okay!

hey hey, I’m looking for more similarly-inclined magical blogs to follow since I made this account very early on in my practice and a lot of the blogs I followed are either inactive or ones I no longer agree with.
I’m a genderfluid hearth witch who’s been practicing +/-5 years, largely following traditions I know I have family ties with just because that’s more comfortable for me— everyone practices in their own way.
I’m a big believer in making magic accessible— financially, spiritually, culturally, and practically. Magic is all around us, no special objects required. We should question our beliefs often, accept new viewpoints and be open to changing our minds as we gather more information.
If you’re a similarly inclined practitioner, drop an emoji or something?
This spread is based on the nonbinary flag created in 2014 by Kye Rowan to be flown alongside the genderqueer flag (which was created in 2010 by Marilyn Roxie), according to the website "Cade Hildreth".
The yellow stripe is for people who identify outside of the cis binary of male or female. The white stripe is for multigender people. Purple is similar to the lavender color of the previous genderqueer flag and represents people who identify as any combination of male and female genders. And black is for agender people.
This spread is meant to work as a two-card spread: the yellow stripe and the question from one of the other three stripes, depending on your own gender identity.
Yellow stripe - What does being nonbinary mean to me? White stripe - What does being multigender mean to me? Purple stripe - What does being a combination of male and female mean to me? Black stripe - What does being agender mean to me?
If you use this, please tag me in it so I can see it and link back to this post!
Made in Canva using pre-made tarot-shaped assets, I’m only responsible for slapping this stuff together and coming up with the questions involved.
Friendly reminder that you can choose to ignore parts of traditional correspondences. Trust your intuition.
As an enby trans guy + baby witch, I've seen a fair amount of gendered correspondences in my reading and it's always made me squirmy. I like your types of energy list, but I'm not totally sure how I would go about applying it mentally. Is it mostly just related to digging a bit deeper into why a particular thing's energy may be considered masculine or feminine, and using that word instead, since masc/fem are sort of being used as really generalized ideas in this scenario? Thank you!!
Hey there!
Re this post: Other types of energy besides masculine and feminine
The concept of gendered energy is actually something that doesn’t exist in my practice at all unless I’m specifically doing a spell for gender exploration or presentation like a glamour.
When people talk about gender in magic, they’re usually referring to whether something has active or passive energy (and it’s not supposed to, nuanced subjects don’t need to be shoved into a constructed binary). If you notice, in my list there’s a lot of nuance there that doesn’t fit into either of those categories. I usually tell people to think of different types of energy like emotions. You may not be able to summon a representation of ‘patience’ to mind, but you can definitely remember what patience feels like. You can meditate and be with that feeling in order to imbibe that as the energy for a spell or working.
This list that I created is intended to break out of the concept of gender magic entirely. If you had never heard about energy or magic being gendered would you even consider associating it with witchcraft? With spiritual workings? I know I wouldn’t have. I have never really thought about gender much at all, especially not as it pertains to things that can’t express gender identity. Just like clothes, toys, cars, careers, and everything else shouldn’t be assigned a gender, neither does magic.
I hope this helps. If you need anything clarified please feel free to send follow up questions.
