small clarifications about alteraffectis

to clear up misconceptions and also to give a bit of context for my idea with it:

I will be doing a retake on it with a hopefully more clarifying definition and a new name (still can be called alteraffectis, just personally want something shorter and easier to have as an affix)

didnt rly like how the flag was just a rainbow but I dont have any new ideas for it so itll stay and if i do change it it wont be much

alteraffectis is a fragarian attraction. a tertiary attraction. its not inherently associated with romance, or sexuality, or platonicity or familialism, or any of the common 'human' attractions. its not human attractions through a nonhuman lens. its not roleplay.

the "x feels for y" definition is to help nonhumans describe it without having to rely on human emotional or attractional terminology. its there as a comparison, not to replace an x4y format, and is entirely optional.

alterhumans shouldnt be expected to be alteraffectis, its an opt-in label and shouldnt be coerced or pressured onto for anyone

alteraffectis and nichelinks arent inherently connected, you dont have to seek nichelink relationships to be alteraffectis and you dont need to be alteraffectis to seek nichelink relationships

similar with alterhuman focused x4x terms, which only picked up in popularity about a year after I coined alteraffectis.

the coining of nichelink was rooted in the idea of providing safer alternatives to 'transharm', 'conabuse' and 'fult' relationships common within the radqueer community by clearly defining safe and unsafe practices associated with it. alteraffectis was coined years before with the intent of giving a name to an experience I had as an aroace alterhuman. while they commonly go together they were coined at different times for seperate reasons and arent unseperable as concepts.

arguing otherwise for any of these promotes the idea of human attraction > nonhuman attraction, how if you experience an attraction you must seek relationships for it, and how youre expected to experience attractions you 'fall in line with', all of these I believe are amatonormative ideas.

Felaffectis

(AKA cat-like attraction)

A form of alteraffectis attraction where you experience attraction in a similar way or the same way as a cat, or express it in the same way (ex: happy purring, cuddling with someone, etc).

Now obviously people can't literally purr and don't have fur. But the term is for people who view themselves as having cat-like mannerisms, or catkin/cat nonhumans.

Name comes from “feline” + “affectis”.

I am aroacespec but I am a very specific flavor of aroacespec where if I didnt tell anyone Im (roughly) aroalloafam theyd assume Im fully allo so do correct me if this is a weird thought.

(fragarian being used to describe all non-normative attraction, including qp, sakuric n similar but excluding platonicism or familialism etc.)

I get so weirded out seeing people make and request "anattractional" terms for fragarian attractions.

taking alteraffectis, my pride and joy, as an example.

its fragarian, by nature and description it is not something experienced by most people, in some cases its neurodivergency, in alteraffectis its nonhuman identity. that being said its also never stated anywhere on the term that most alterhumans experience it to an extent, i never said it, I never implied it. in fact in my brain as an aro individual i thought "if this was a more common experience someone else would definitely coin it before me, this must only appeal to a really niche corner of the community but it makes me happy"

that being said, Im not comfortable making an analteraffectis flag. while I cant take the flagmaking rights from anyone I wouldnt be comfortable seeing it as well. its a niche attraction term meant for a niche side of a community, i dont want there to be "what if I wasnt though" flags for it because it feels normative, conforming, like a straight or cis flag (as much as they both deserve a space in the community so long as theyre queer)

only exception I'd have is a"spectrum" stuff, because someone who experiences even a small bit of alteraffectis still experiences alteraffectis which is relevant enough to label, I will make a flag for it with a different name, I just dont want the entire lack of a niche attraction label to be something to "take pride in"

again do correct me if this is just ingrained aphobia or something
