oho!! these are fun.

stardust - What kind of clothes do they usually wear off-duty? : Nova takes to a layered grunge sorta look when she's not in uniform. Always comfortable, and always baggy. She must have at least ten pairs of cargo pants in varying shades of black and grey (occasionally, if we're feeling very fancy, there might be a tan or green in there). Chunky sweaters are the BEST, but all are in states of disrepair because it is way too easy to snag on corners and it's not like she goes shopping more than once every few years. This changes a little bit when Liara comes around, because not every date can be to the gun store. And Liara likes seeing Nova in clothes that she's bought for her! This may have been how a few crop tops made it into Nova's wardrobe. Liara is shameless in this.

supernova - When did your Shepard decide to join the Alliance? Was there a breaking point in their life that made them to become a soldier? This is a great question, and even one I wanted to get to so badly in Out of Orbit. There wasn't a good place for it though! Nova comes from a spacer background. Both mom and dad were in the Alliance Navy, and honestly? She wanted nothing to do with them OR the Alliance. She blamed the Alliance for keeping her parents away when she was young, and was annoyed with the moving around as she got older. As a result, she acted out a lot. There's a few other reasons contributing to this, but needless to say, she got in trouble frequently. Petty thievery escalated into vehicle theft and gang involvement, and when she was caught, she was going to be tried as an adult. Both of her parents being fairly high ranked officers though, they were able to pull some strings. Nova wouldn't go to prison, she'd go to boot camp. Nova...wasn't happy about this. In the least. Once she learned that she'd get an amp out of it though--well, it didn't take much more to convince her.
