This awesome GIF shows the exact moment when a small rock located in the outer solar system passed in front of a star. This split-second clip will give us plenty of insight into this mysterious rock, all by passing in front of a star and casting a shadow on Earth.

This Kuiper Belt Object (KBO) is called MU69 and orbits 40 times further from the Sun than the Earth. Astronomers don’t know what this rock looks like but it is thought to be leftover from the Solar System formation that occurred 4.6 billion years ago.

The New Horizons space craft will be flying past the object on January 1, 2019.

I've phoned my U.S. Senator, and told a staff member that I'd like the senator to do all he can to delay, stall, and block Neil Gorsuch's confirmation.  I heard that Drumpf picked Gorsuch in a nauseating "Apprentice"-style spectacle in which the two finalists were invited to the Very White House and the winner was announced at the very end.  I'm not 100% certain that it happened, since you couldn't pay me enough to watch for an hour and boost his ratings when I could learn more by skimming twitter the morning afterward.
