A monster-made monster-hunting brigade

In the fog-drenched, twilight-eternal city of Melancholia, there exists a band of creatures who refuse to accept the fate the world has assigned them. They are monsters by birth—or by curse—but heroes by choice. To some, they are vigilantes. To others, abominations. But to themselves, they are a promise:

If humanity fears monsters, then monsters should be the ones to protect it.

They call themselves the Cryptwalkers.

Despised by their own kind, hunted by humans, and mistrusted by nearly everyone else, the Cryptwalkers walk the impossible tightrope between redemption and ruin. Their missions often end with more chaos than applause, and their methods—brutal, unorthodox, and questionable—only reinforce human suspicion that they’re no better than the creatures they fight.

Still, no force in Melancholia is more determined to keep its people safe.

A redraw of this old piece from 2018, haha! I was so happy to draw it again, and well, a good excuse to draw a snowy piece, finally accordingly to the season that's now xD

These were the culmination of various studies. Expression studies, Clothing studies, Environmental studies, and a Light study. Had quite the amount of fun doing these, and they sprouted some ideas as well. This character's name is Jesse.

In regards to the art piece in the lower left, I had used this as a reference. As soon as I had seen this character, she instantly made me think of Jesse. Couldn’t stop myself from doing a study. That particular reference also worked out well because of the various light sources around the character that I could experiment with.
